It’s just a few small bucks. Hunters here shoot deer like that on opening day without even making sure their gun is sighted in.

I want to see some better results for your efforts this year. Otherwise you’re just horsing around.

jk, I believe some did swim in, but it's a long swim from Connecticut, Theres been some in the Bronx for years, so a short swim, or walk on ice, or over a bridge, but that's still 80 miles or so through dense suburbia to us... Some people claim they were planted by the DEC, in secret, but I never believed those stories......However they got here, they're here, just in limited numbers, maybe not a breeding population yet, but that'll come.

People here think it's great...till their little dogs get snatched...but cleaning out the feral cats might be worth it...not, lol

"Hunters here...."

That's the difference. If you hunted down here in the deep Southern US you would probably give up deer hunting. Killing a mature buck here is much more difficult than other parts of the continent. We have the numbers but piney woods and swamps down here make it harder. How many hunting shows on TV do you see filmed in the piney woods of southern Georgia? Reckon why that is?

I'll let you pick a trio of "good" hunters from MB to hunt down here.

Then, I'll pick a trio of "good" hunters from southern Georgia to hunt in MB.

After a week.....we'll tally their scores.....

Tip: hope you know some mature buck killers, because I do. These guys kill top end bucks for this area every season while hunting in places where they can't even see the ground because it's so thick.

I don’t see any joy in having to lease property in order to shoot a deer. Honestly it sucks to think how crappy your deer hunting experience is down there.

Where I hunt, it’s also pine and swamps. It’s called Sandilands for a reason! But it’s miles and miles of public land and I don’t need to rake a field all summer long and pay $1000’s to hunt.

I’ve never heard of a deer dying from heat stroke, but winter kill is a serious thing here.

The amount of mature deer down there is probably far greater than here.

I've never hunted farther south than W VA , but have hunted in Colorado, and Michigan.
Michigan UP is very close to being Canada.
The farther north you go, the thicker it gets.
That's why most hunting is around lakes, and logging areas, the wild is just the hardest passage between the sphagnum moss , and the rocky landscape.
A lot of small game hunting is on snowmobile trails, and back roads.
Seldom see small game in the bush, too thick.
Some civilized areas have farm fields, that are good easy hunting.
Just get away from the population , which isn't far , it's a different world.

Gave up on repellents and just went to 6 foot welded wire fencing
