The Residents originally came from Louisiana. You can still hear the accent.

I grew up listening to local old school Cajun music on vinyl.
A good number of the Cajun Legends were on Swallow Records out of Ville Platte.
We would always tune in to KVPI in Ville Platte for “Cajun Saturdays” when the BBQ pit was hot and the beer was cold.

One of the local favorites was Nathan Abshire.
He was from Basile LA.
He passed away in 1981 I believe.

I enjoy Tuba Skinny. Even went to see them live at the Spotted Cat in New Orleans. I consider their music to be Dixieland jazz rather than Cajun. They are a very talented group.

Look up Briggs Brown and the Bayou Cajuns. Two of the kids father, I believe, owns DI's restaurant. Danced many a weekend there
