Most amazing bird I can think of.

They split south here about labor day. Right along with the Orioles

About in a week, our males head out then 2 week later the females leave. 2 feeders right on the porch where we sit. They are something to see up close.

Been so many and so active at my house all spring and summer. Going to miss them this winter.

Had dozens here all summer but most have left already, prolly take down the feeders here pretty soon.

I have noticed that our feeder visitations have slowed down considerably in the last week or so. I didnt think our birds left this soon.

The males have left here, but the females and young are still around and hungry. Had to put out a second feeder, they empty one in a day now.

The last few years I've had a dozen or more show up several times a day all summer long. This year I've seen one, might be more that I haven't seen. Same feeders same everything. Every week or 10 days I replace the the feeders with new Electro-Nectar (Store bought). Any idea what's going on?

I dont know drifter, are there the same amount of flowers in the area as past years?

We had a good showing earlier but they don't seem to like the intense heat. They should be coming around again when they go south

They will be here in September. We have a few hangs around all year. Or purple Martins leaves here around July 5th.

I saw hummingbirds in Ohio in mid October last year. I'm surprised they are leaving some of your states so early. A great many people feed them, including both my parents. There's a male ruby throated here that is infatuated with one of my security cameras. He gives me zooming cameos several times a day, sometimes.

I bought around 40 hibiscus to sell and have around 10 left here. They are sitting on the ground and are pretty short, but the hummers love them anyway. The hibiscus are all right next to each other. It's fun watching the birds work their ways through the tight gaps to sip from all the flowers.

I had a lot of mandevillas, that the humming birds loved too.

I've been reading that hummingbird birds help to control Spotted Wing Drosophila (invasive fruit fly). It's late this year but I bought 150 feeders to set up on the farm for next year.

Carl, do you have swallows, swifts and purple martens in your area in Oregon? They eat huge amounts of flying insects too and are easy to attract with housing. Going organic, definitely can make things harder.

I live in the High Desert country of Wyoming, not much for flowers anywhere here. Hard to believe the hummingbirds even come to this area. I read that the chem trails/cloud seeding is playing a big part in the small bird and insect population. Makes sense to me.

About a week ago a mom and her baby were hanging around the compost bin picking off fruit flies. It was pretty cool to watch them zip back and forth going after the bugs

I don't think that swallows do much with SWD. The fruit flies are almost embedded in brushy shady stuff that doesn't allow for easy flying. Hummingbirds are little helicopters so it apparently works for them.

My hummingbirds and orioles stopped showing up a week or so ago here in Michigan

I thought it was a little early, but thought maybe the hot weather and wildfire smoke we've had played a factor.

Like others said, usually I see them till labor day-ish.
