Have one an old model Garret, bought it many years ago when metal detecting was nothing but going after coins

Now its a big thing with so many different companies and models, makes a person's head spin trying to figure out what to get

I still take it with me on camping trips and hunting trips, but other than that I don't go any where much now in the city, found a whole lot of coins up in the Kennecott homesteads and more modern home areas before they buried it all in tailings. Now you can't even get on property unless you work there, I did but retired now!

I have often thought about getting another for better metal and mineral designation now that they are so adjustable, just never follow through !

Best advice I can give you now is know what your going to do with it, then get to a place thats sales more than one kind and turn on your questions to someone who is interested in helping you, not just sale you one !!

Bought my first Whites model many years back to find my arrows that slid under the grass when target shooting and couldnt find them. Got a newer model a few years back to find traps under a surprise snow fall in rough country. Just had mine out a few days ago to find my neighors lost arrows that slid under the grass.

How deep could you find a 1/2” rebar stake driven in the ground? Property stake.

Been using metal detectors for 57 years.
Before retiring I had a metal detector dealership.
Currently using what I believe is the best detector available for my type of hunting.

TESERO LOBO used here. Worked it hard a.few years back. Kind.of not done much lately. Hear they don't make them any more. Good hobby. All you need is spare batteries and a lunch. Get tired, turn it off and.go home, until.next time.

What cool stuff have you guys found?

I've found all kinds of coins, real old ones lots of silver, before the mine shut everyone out of the old homes up there, knives, pieces of copper out in the fields, mountains, really odd to find a chunk of copper, used mine to help a landlord find some of his water mains that were grown over, he gave me free rent for a month, figured at the time it was a good trade !

All kinds of old cans, tools, took it up to the raceway here before it was all tore down when they were not using it any more , must have found at least a hundred dollars in quarters and fifty cent pieces under the bleachers, Can't count the number of rings either on school grounds, some real nice class rings,

Old stakes at camp grounds, all kinds of bullets hunting when camping, just about anything metal !

… no … I just go to the ice house… drink beer and talk crap
