Have carried a Ruger LCP 380 for years as everyday carry, at times a colt 1911 commander 45ACP.

I think the term that applies is "Saturday night special".

With regards to George Jones........with inflation........"I had one that was hotter than a $2 pistol......she was the fastest thing in town"

that was a song about a red head who was a pistol

Saturday night special definition became any gun with a low melting point alloy

it specifically targeted zinc alloy die cast pistol frames used by Rholm of West Germany , they could produce pistols that could be purchased for less than a tank of gas was costing that same week in history.

in 1967 a Rholm 22 revolver was 10 dollars , gas was about 50 cents a gallon with a 20 gallon tank you could fill the tank or buy the gun.

these days with so many polymer frame guns ,

my truck took $85 in gas last night and it wasn't even empty

I guess that basically is a Saturday night special

If it came in .22, I’d buy one in a heart beat. My shooting is pretty much restricted to coon/coyotes/beavers. Most of which are in snares. This sized gun would be easily stored in my waders. Being kind of stout, trying to pull my present revolver out of the waders is always a struggle.

Ok I have a question for all of you posters talking down the high point pistol, have any of you actually shot one, I mean actually gone to the range and spent some time shooting one, and have on a few occasions, yes their fug ugly, yes their heavy and everyone I’ve shot had a horrible trigger but then Ive seen worse from major MFGs like S&W and colt Ect, the point is that they work, accurately shooting one is harder then with something with a good trigger but they go bang and I have never had any more problems then with other semiautomatic pistol

Now the 89 dollar question would i own one Then the answer is not unless i had no other choice, like i said their really ugly and not the most comfortable thing to shoot, but I wouldn’t be afraid to have to pick one up and defend myself with it if i had to, l would just prefer to do so with something that also looks good and fits my hand better, meaning I’m just more likely to carry it and shoot it way way better

I hate to admit it but I collect Saturday night specials, guns, Raven arms, lorcin, Jimenze ect as well as those old often topbreaks that were once called suicide specials and IMHO ugly as they are high points are way better

Now that said would I own one well maybe to hang with all those old ring of fire guns

I’m so have to admit I own a high point carbine in 9mm and yes it’s also ugly but it shoots every time the triggers pulled and accuracy is about a inch inch and a half’s at 50 yards depending on ammo which is all I ask of it, when I bought it it’s was a little over a hundred dollars and a case of 1000 9mm was way less then a hundred if I remember they ran 80 and sometimes less so it was cheap to shoot, got a lot of trigger time with it for that reason and being young and dumb it didn’t get cleaned at all but it kept right on running

the best way I can put the way I feel about the high points is , yes I have shot a few.

it is the ill fit Walmart bicycle of guns

will it get your recently sober butt from county to work every day for 90 days till your huber is over , sure , do you really want to be riding it , no

the seat is hard all the ergonomics are off , the gear shift hurts your hand and if you try to pedal real hard you can bend a pedal , but it will do in a pinch and keep doing but your not winning any bike races nor wanting to go joy riding 20 miles on a Saturday.
