There is a lot to respond to in Druckenmiller's piece but I'll be brief.

As Steven has said................markets should decide prices. That is exactly what the bond market was and is doing.

But as Druckenmiller says.....and I agree.....the Treasury can't allow that to happen because it is not affordable. This is nothing more than yield curve control and Japan tried it for decades without success.

So while I understand Bessent's motivation, and his goal..........the tools he is using are the wrong ones. The bond market knows that and is pushing back.

In the long run, the bond market will win but it may not be pretty

I think Druckenmiller has laid out his thinking. Deficit reduction is the right tool. However that requires a credible fiscal policy that we are unlikely to ever see until it is too late.

We have tax revenues up 5% but spending is up 8%. That will never pencil out to 'deficit reduction'.

It is really interesting to watch though. You have B And ....Druckenmiller worked for Soros !

After reading that piece yesterday I looked up Druckenmiller and the first thing I saw was that he'd worked for Soros.... so naturally assumed he must be a liberal. But a few more minutes of reading showed that... up until Trump, he was a staunch supporter of Republican candidates. I found that interesting.
