Kind of a crappy thing to do AFTER guys bought tags.

ND did the same thing. Days before the draw deadline they announced NRs wouldnt be able to hunt public land for the first ten days of season or something like that.

Which is fine. But you should decide stuff like that BEFORE people spend their money.

I have no clue why. I bet KS loses license sales. It's not right. I would not hunt here if out of state deer hunting was something I was interested in.

Kansas is just looking out for their resident hunters as many states are doing now.
They should have put this out before license sales but their state their rules.

We're all one in the same. Isn't money the same no matter who buys the tags? Out of staters spend extra in hotels and restaurants and convenience stores too, helping local economies. This is a bummer.

This is for game dept land only, correct? Not walk in or private?

Plenty of deer in KS. If a meat hunter can't fill all his tags he is a lousy hunter. If an antler hunter does not at least pass on small bucks same thing.

No clue what special programs mean or if private property is exempt. State lands are very limited in KS. So marginal I doubt anyone out of state would travel to hunt them.

I read that it only applies to migratory waterfowl, coot, sandhill crane, rail, or snipe. Haven't seen anything that mentioned deer hunting.

That would make much more sense.

From the KS game and parks site??.

A change in hunting hours for nonresidents hunting waterfowl, coot, rail, or snipe on KDWP-managed public lands and waters. Beginning with the fall 2026 seasons, nonresidents must stop hunting before noon and must leave department lands by 1:00 pm. These limits do not apply to the September teal season or light geese hunting during the light goose conservation order. They also do not apply to Walk-In Hunting Access (WIHA and iWIHA) areas, if nonresidents are hunting other species on department lands, or during KDWP Special Hunts programs and events.

Lived in East Central Kansas from 4th grade through my senior year. Moved away shortly after graduation, but I bought a lifetime license while living in Kansas. I get to buy my deer and turkey tags as a resident. Unless they've changed that too. Unfortunately I haven't hunted in Kansas for 5 years. Quit going after my cousin outside of Madison died.

Used to have a farmer that would swap deer hunting for hog hunting

All those KS farmers hated deer and we hate hogs so it worked out well laugh

He stopped farming and we lost a lot of access.
Farmers would let any and everybody hunt for the asking so it got to where you didn't know if anyone was over the rise shooting your way

This was bad news as I bow hunted with my son there three years ago and thought it was time to apply again next year. But I looked at their website and this was for waterfowl and doesn't apply to deer hunting. So we're still good to go. We wouldn't pay to drive that far only to hunt until noon.

Each day is a gift. LIVE IT with gratitude.

Unfortunately a lot of state game commissions don't make a lot of sense. They also reinstated the Fall turkey season here in KS. It hasn't been allowed since 2023. They said that due to better hatch numbers they are going to open it again in 2027. Yes 2027! So what happens when we have a (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) poor hatch next Spring? The lack of common sense in this world will drive a guy to drinking.

Toms only won't hurt populations. I agree that numbers are returning slowly. Better fur prices IMO would help nesting success. The article I originally read had for its headline deer hunters. Sorry for the confusion. I still see no need to restrict nonresidents to morning hours only.
