I could be missing something but I do have 2 data center going up and a 3rsd being proposed 2 within 8 miles or so of me the other within 35.
So how much has your property tax increased? They have gone up every year and moving faster with the increased development. Doubled in the last maybe 6 years. All the development is not just data center to be fare. We have a huge industrial development center building on the old ammunition plant, farms are also being sold off and broken down into housing developments. They have built a lot of very large apparmtment complexes and many subdivisions as well. All contrubuit to increased property value and therefore taxes.

The only reason that communities throughout the U.S.A. should not want Data Centers is if they want to end up being backwards and poor. If they want to be successful and rich, with far lower taxes and jobs all over the place, let Data Reign. The good news is that there are plenty of other places that want them. If we kill the Golden Goose, you will only have yourselves to blame. China could not be happier with this anti Data Center movement. Actually, they can’t believe it is happening! President DJT

Geeeez I have to agree with Charles AND Trump on the same post? Wouldn't you rather be right instead If you were 30 years older you'd have been sitting in a bar in the 90s talking to your buddies about how all this WWW stuff was a hoax and it would never go anywhere...... lol.

boy some of you guys are really drinking up the government koolaid. A I is for one purpose, to spy on the american people. data centers are for one purpose, to store all that data they collect. and later for the complete control of the american people. I'm with you. I'm not opposed to data centers or technology but acting like they're going to save us from China and decades of poor financial decisions is optimistic & moronic. "They" are starting to use the covid framing for the conversation "if you dont mask up, take the vaccine and stay in side your endangering everyone and part of the problem" Now it's "if you oppose data centers your the reason for the national debt and china's rise, you're endangering the rest of us" I'm not buying it. Data centers are so corporations can monetize you better. Your 6 year old getting advertisements for a new gadget near their birthday is what we need data centers. Politicans are just pissin down our backs and telling us it's raining trying to sell this as national defense and economic efficiency Donner is right.

When we were working during 2020 and 21 everyone was seemingly working from home. Apparently working from home is code for sitting in a lawn chair watching me work with an occasional 10 minute "meeting". It became obvious to me many people perform minimal work which includes many college educated and high income earners. Those jobs will absolutely be replaced by AI or foreign workers and that will have an impact. I don't however believe AI is going to be the end all be all its being sold as. Maybe I am just a luddite but I fail to believe the claims coming from the real AI believers that it is going to fix our financial issues and secure our defense while also being your best friend and giving you special massages every night.

AI believer here. AI will positively NOT "fix all our financial issues"...... not a chance. It will boost GDP but that is a far cry from fixing our issues. AI will eliminate jobs sure...... while creating others... would I be paying for a Masters if I thought it would be worthless down the road?? Secure our defense? Not sure what you mean here........ but I DO believe it's kinda important that our AI capability exceeds China's.......

Inflation will boost GDP.
If we fall behind China in AI capability we can always just copy them, how many Trillions do we need to spend to make sure we stay 3 days ahead of China in the AI race?
Like I said, I'm not against Data centers or AI, I think the capabilities are being overblown. It will be the excuse corporations use to trim the fat that already exist in the ranks. It will certainly change some fields in ways I can't imagine but for the most part I think we will be on a different bandwagon in 5 years, maybe global warming again, or windtowers, solar, maybe coal shall shine agian, nuclear fusion, desalination plants...

And to add to the conversation, a new golf course uses way more water than a data center. But golf courses generally don’t get shot down in communities like data centers do. Go figure. Jim
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Jim It's just straight up ignorance. Most everyone on here would support data centers......if they could only understand........
