What's yours?

I think my old bow maxes out at 70 and thats where its sat at since 97. Untill my 14 year old decided he wanted to shoot it. I lowered it down about 4 full turns on each side what ever that is.

Had a bow I shot at 80 before that I was young and dumb though. Current bows are probably lighter smoother and faster at 55 lb than my old bow is at 70 just guessing on that. Have killed deer from 45 lbs (at 13) to 80 and the results were the same.

My reflex / Reflex longbow is 49lbs @28"

And my Yew Wood ..English Selfbow ..is 57 lbs @28"

I do not own a bow with training wheels

Proper draw weight is determined by sitting in a chair, lifting your feet off of the floor and being able to draw the bow
If you can't draw the bow, turn the poundage down until you can draw it from a sitting position with your feet off of the floor
Now practice and build up those muscles needed to draw a higher weight
Turn up the power as your strength and ability improve

There was a guy in our rifle shooting friends
that could group arrows into a pie plate at a hundred yards.
Quite impresive.
Relax, he did not hunt.

My last six deer I killed with my 66" recurve, 34@28. I have a long 31" draw, so around 41+/-.
I'll be using a different 66" bow this season 38@28, 45+/- at my draw. I'll probably get some 44# limbs for an elk hunt next September.

I shoot a Hoyt at 88lbs, FMJ arrows that weigh 805g

and Wetdog i can pull it sitting down, while drinking a cup of coffee

Currently shoot 72#. Amazing how fast and smooth it is compared to the 80's when we were shooting poundage in the 90s to get speed. Arrows were like telephone poles, 2419, XX75 aluminum autumn orange color.

On one of the operations I had they had to scrape the inside of my ribcage. They cut through the lattimus muscle and I wasn't able to draw my compound anymore so I got a longbow. The long limbs give a better leverage and I can draw it. It's aroung 45 lb at 28". We can't use crossbows in MT even for disabled, but can get a permit to modify bows.I could go that route but I got to like a longbow better. I read up on Howard Hill and his technique, that helped it all click

about the time I was 13-14 years old I maxed out my bow at 70 and never backed down , don't shoot much any more but I can get it back still.

I used to have mine set at 75 pounds.But cold days it is to hard to easily pull back now.

65 pounds

Started out with 80 lb bow now 60 wished I had a 45 pound bow.

45 my friend that got me in it was pulling 68 when he was 12

…and likely don’t eat much venison
