FYI All my and my sons picture quantity has dropped off dramatically in the last week. Deer have left clover, beans and have move to oaks. Think I'm running 5 and son has more out than Kodak. +-500 acres.

Thought folks might want to rethink their stand location.

Ground at my house is covered in acorns. Almost dangerous to walk across them to the mail box.

Only acorns I am seeing so far is the failed ones.

Big drought here is putting a hurt on the mast crop

Same here. Deer should be moving a lot this fall because of acorn failure.

How is your mast crop in your area this year? 24 and 25 were bumper crops in my area of Northeast Ohio. They were just starting to pop when we were setting cameras a few weeks ago.

Same with us. last 2 years it was insane with the shear number of acorns. This year, and we had plenty of rain, next to nothing. We feed 365 and at this time of the year the deer should be working the oaks but there not. Been thinking of making a small hay feeder where I could put 2 or 3 leaves of hay in it maybe 2, 3 times a week. 14 does and fawns last night which is way high for this time of year.

Our oaks have not produced well this year. Very few that I have seen did well. Even our hickory trees are poor.

Same here, but we have apples. The spring weather was cold rain wind. Blossoms formed and were instantly destroyed = I thought. Never expected to have apples, don't know what insects were around to pollinate them. But something did = we got apples and pears too.......jk

Always interesting on here.

Poor mast here.
Big rain the last month has produced
these large thickets we call corn fields.
And box store bag feed season has begun.

Squirrels worked the slim black cherries
and now seem to be on clover or hay seeds.
I look for them to migrate or have a tuff winter.

I noticed the same thing on my cameras. Very few pics from my clover plot compared with a couple of other cameras over the past 2 weeks.

We had drought in late winter, spring, and very early summer, then it rained like crazy and we more than caught up. It appears the effect was mostly on the white oaks as they didn't produce an edible acorn unless growing near a water source. The red oak acorns filled out nicely.

Heavy acorn crops mean a bad winter is coming. At least that’s what my grandpa always told me.

How many of your neighbors started dumping truckloads of deer corn and other goodies to get ready for bow season? That might explain it too, right before archery opens.

My sons neighbor is a outfitter. He told me he spent $5500.00 on corn last year.

That’s the way it goes. You have to find the bait that the deer like better than your neighbors bait until the rut and the bucks are traveling. With all these trail cams the days of sneaking over and peeing on your neighbors corn pile at 2 am are over.
