Thats above the spine. Theres no space above the lungs/below the spine. Dont matter if they are deflated or inflated.

"deer’s lungs, just like your lungs, completely fill the chest cavity because they are held there by a vacuum. They don’t withdraw from the ribs when a deer exhales. The ribs and diaphragm move instead to create the pressure that pulls air into the lungs and pushes it back out again. Do you know what your doctor calls it when air gets into the space between your lungs and your chest wall? A “collapsed lung.” It’s not a normal or good thing, as I’m sure you know." Anatomy. Lungs cant move out of the way, the spine curvs down and slightly sits between the lungs. You are not squeezing an arrow between the lungs and spine.

that is a great shot IF you are above and behind the deer and shoot it with something with enough penitration to get down to the heart and lungs and make exit.

like it is 20 yards away and you are 20 feet up in a tree

it isn't a point on the outside of a deer it is the path through the deer you are shooting for

pass the bullet about evenly between the legs about mid line and they die

you can do it from the front , the back , or any angel that puts it through that space

I have done it from the front , from the back and a lot of angles including down from the top

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Yes there is I’ve gutted hundreds of deer and the lungs are not attached to the top of the chest cavity. Even laying in their side there is room below the back bone that the lungs can be missed.heart lungs come out soon as you cut the windpipe with very little effort standing up gravity will cause the lungs to lay even lower
Reason I posted this pic is because it’s obvious no blood coming out of its nose so lungs weren’t hit. Yes a dead deer the lung are deflated leaving a bigger void in the cavity. Giving some truth to PF theory.

A dead deer has no pressure in its cavity. Again its anatomy, there is no room below the spine and above the lungs i can promise you that. Have gutted hundreds of deer myself so dont feel to special on that. Its the classic backstrap shot. Clearly above the spine.thoriatic pressure holds the lungs in place, after you have killed and started gutting deer there no more pressure, hence the lungs just flopping around. You can think what you want about a void space betweem the lungs and the spine but you are just lying to yourself. Lungs are attached to the chest wall and never completly empty, residual volume.

For all the its impossible guys would you care to explain how thats the only place I have shot 5 deer and not found them with a bow. Now I was not aiming there but once. Also my friend who discribed the same watery light blood trail and shot location and had the deer back on camera 2 weeks later with huge hole in its back healing up.

If its impossible how did that happen? Had i not experienced this i wouldn't believe it but I have. Wish I still had the picture but its been at least 12 years and a lot of phones ago

Exactly. Not nice thick blood from a lung hit. I always thought the deer i hit there died and I just didnt find them untill my friend discribed the same shot and his deer showed back up on camera two weeks later with larg healing hole in its back. Then I thought hmm maybe they all didn't die after all .

Im not saying im right and there can be a gap there . What im saying is its the only thing that makes since and no one has ever explained how deer live shot there and show back up on camera and not dead rotting in the woods when shot there if there is not a space at least at some point in the breathing cycle.

And if you miss by just a little you have one just like pictured above. I am a lung shooter. Right behind the leg in the lower 1/3. They may run but they won't run far.

That is what we commonly refer to as a Ray Charles Blood Trail!

I once shot an elk, fast shooting in the brush. He went down and right back up again. The herd took off and I followed the tracks for a ways. No chance to catch them quick so I went back to look at the spot where the bull was when I shot. The bull had pulled out of the herd and circled. I saw him and got a head shot. When I gutted him and butchered him it was clear the first shot had passed through over the lungs and below the spine. Did go through a rib on the far side. He was definitely sick. Did look like he would have survived. Elk are tough. 300 WSM

Again, people do not realize how much the spine dips down. Backstrap shots are non lethal unless they get infected

My elk was not shot in the backstrap. Under the spine.
