Have any of you ever seen a knife like this before?

A customer gave it to me years ago. I’m pretty sure it’s handmade and I’m pretty sure it’s real silver.

Any ideas on the maker or the origin?

Looks like a Kirpan.

My first guess is it's country of origin maybe Turkey ? It's one of those thing's that you wish it could talk to tell you about all that it's seen and done .

I've seen pictures of folks in India with similar looking knives.

Maybe Turkey, more likely India based off of what Boco said. The guy who gave it to me had gotten it from his grandmother who was a frequent world traveler.

That's what I was thinking, isn't the arabs that prize them so much?

Curious the origin and use. I'm a knife user and can't fathom a use for that blade shape other than slashing big holes in soft target at close range.

India is very possible also no matter where its from it's very different than what we're used to seeing here in the states .

One things for sure it's very cool and as warrior mentioned it's for close up and personal work .

I think it's mostly a ceremonial knife, certainly not one used for everyday tasks.

It's called a Jambala middle east, camel jockey region.(sauia Arabia etc) High end ones have rhino horn handles, also common to have bone handles for the plainer ones.alot of the pimped out ones could be tourist pieces or real for dress ocassions depending on the blade. used to be traditional for every male to wear one

I read the same thing on Wikipedia after Boco called it a Kirpan GCP.

I thought the Sikh's were famous for the Kukri knife?

As said, Nepalese but made imfamous by the British Ghurkas. Ghurkas being nepalese volunteers serving in elite british regiments.
