I know it's no secret that I collect books, a lot of books!

Welli was informed earlier this year that 1000 volumes are considered a library. Well, I am at 975 books right now and expect to hit the library mark by this time next year. I never intended to do build my own library when I started in 1997, but well it's fun, and I learn so much.

Just thought I'd share laugh - Mike

Do you read any of them or just collect them?

I've read about 80% of them - last few years been super busy working regular job and NWCO business cutting into reading time and well more money more books LOL, I plan to when I retire read them from Aagard to Zwillign and write reviews for each. I already have them cataloged.

Best thing is learning new things, old things, so much info in the older books, much of it is wrong now but its fun to see how many books of the same period have same beliefs.

Interesting. We have a lot of books. I need more shelving im looking at least 8 stacks 18" to 26" tall now in the living room across the fire place.

Wife is planing on having a lending library in her school if we get things lined out and the building built. The not working from MS has really put a pause on the large projects both from financial and health/climate angles. The way heat affected me this summer we may decide to relocate.

I have no clue how many books we have but dont think they are in the thousands yet. Would be if the wife and daughter had room to bring them home.

Sounds like you have a nice collection. Do you stick to specific topics, authors, time periods?

I always dread when the library is cleaning out books and has a sale. I know my family is likely to come home with a car load.

5321 is what I currently have on the shelf about 99% have been read, many of them are fiction, science fiction, fantasy historical fiction, western ect many of them older ones such as Jules Vern, edger rice burrows ect while others are old adventure books by explorers by authors that actually did and experienced it first hand or old how to books hunting, fishing, trapping or building/making things

I do try and find first editions especially of those I really like as well as autographed ones

I never knew that about the 1000 book mark being a library, when I graduated from high school in 82 I was already almost there as I had over 700 then but lost them in a house fire so had to start over and that hurt especially if your a book lover because some of those were already out of print and hard to find and a few have still not been replaced because I just haven’t found a decent copy or I just can’t justify what they want for one now
