… looks like you got them good and domesticated

… that’s why I call today’s “hunting” animal husbandry

That's when you get someone else to drive you, leave you there and drive off. Leaving a sweaty shirt there, after a couple of weeks, will prevent the deer from being wary at all.

No corn piles, feeding stations and such up here. That's illegal for us. We still hunt them. Husbandry is something you do with your wife

Good thing it’s like that there for everybody. We used to not be able to hunt over bait piles, then it changed. Was picking up chicken feed yesterday when a couple nonresident hunters were loading up, 20-100lb bags of corn. They hunt all around me. Yes the pics are comical but those are the only two deer on cameras for the entire evening.

Piling the corn like that will cause it to sour if it gets a heavy rain on it.

Scatter it out so the kernels don't pile....like a heavy acorn drop. Make em move around to eat it.

The deer will still come to a soured pile but will only eat around the edges. Much of the corn will go to waste...what the coons and bears don't eat.

Now, if you have feral hogs...they'd love it!

That was a bit tongue in cheek, as I know what water does to corn…….

No more than I put out, it isn’t around long between the coons, deer, squirrels and dove.

Been deer hunting in MD over 50 years, never known it to not be legal on private land.
LOL, had a state senator admonish me for NOT setting over a corn pile way back in the '70s

We bait at my club. I prefer to place the corn in one location and never change that location from year to year. Others will sling corn up and down a shooting lane for 100+ feet. Both work, but the bait pile has a huge advantage. When daylight is very low, and a deer runs after the shot, if it was at a bait pile, you know where to start searching for blood. When corn is dribbled over a long area, finding the first sign of blood can be harder.

Agreed....... When we were allowed to bait, we would broadcast it in a large area. The deer would seem more relaxed and had to meander around to eat it.

Get you a feeder. Saves money and always fresh corn. NOT A MOTORIZED one . It will run every deer off around. Gravity fed . I don't hunt near any feeders. Just use one to keep the girls happy . Boy friends show up.
