A 43-year-old Memphis woman named Tammy Lou Hensley was arrested by the Memphis Police Department after allegedly operating an unlicensed squirrel barbecue business out of the trunk of her car.

Key Details of the Incident:

• The Arrest & Location: Hensley was taken into custody on a Tuesday afternoon at a Memphis Kroger parking lot following multiple citizen complaints.
• The Operation: Witnesses reported Hensley soliciting customers near her Chevrolet Impala selling $10 squirrel plates complete with sides.
• The Setup: Her trunk doubled as a makeshift food station featuring crockpots, cooking supplies, and a promotional sign. When confronted by authorities, she attempted to close the trunk and deny the operation.

If I'd of run into her, we'd likely have been doing business.

That's what's wrong with America these days. No tolerance for creative entrepreneurship.

I don't think this is what's wrong with America.

^^^So you're glad somebody got arrested that had an idea how to make ends meet with a creative side hustle, instead of just begging on a street corner or living off the government's dole?

Well, to each their own I guess.

Ya, I don't want people shooting Wildlife and selling it out of their Trunk.

Imagine having a restraunt, paying taxes, insurance, all that and having people setting up across the street selling wildlife out of their vehicle.

Imagine manning up and making your own decision on what you wanted to buy for lunch, a plate in a sit down restaurant, or a plate of "wildlife" in a wet, breezy, parking lot.

Gotta give her credit for trying! In Mo it's against the law to sell wild game.

ahh , but not rat

I definitely give her credit for trying

sure beats another person on the welfare

urban squirrels need a good thinning any way , bunch of traps and go around the burbs collecting traps up , that could work.

do you really think most people can tell rat from tree rat when you take the head , tail , feet and cook it in a crock pot for hours

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

She could be arrested in my state for violations of food sanitation laws, for not having a retail license, and for not paying sales taxes. We tax food sales here. I suppose Kroger could press charges for unauthorized use of their parking lot.

Girl Scouts get a pass. At least they ask for permission first.

What gives everyone the idea that she’s not on welfare..? I’d wager just the opposite, taking the taxpayer money and also trying to side hustle a little on the side and under the table. See it often….

Wasn't there a recall for several thousand pounds of bad squirrel a few weeks ago? No, maybe that was beef, or it could have been lettuce. It was happening so much really can't remember but it could have been squirrel or if she was an illegal it was probably somebodies pet dog. Let somebody sell something out of their trunk and people could get food poisoning. If she didn't have a USDA sticker on her car (and i don't mean for Prime, Choice, or Select) I wouldn't eat it for fear of food poisoning !
Maybe someone was watching out for their reputation after selling pre-cooked meat products by BrucePac (nearly 10 million pounds) due to potential Listeria contamination a couple years ago.

Sell the Plate/Bowl and plastic flatware then GIVE the customer what is in the crock pot.

I had a Lawyer many years ago who asked to buy a Ziplock Bag from me for 25.00.
Then we filled it with freshly boned out turtle meat.
