lost a few here already

Weird run today. Got out at first light, rolled up to my first bait station and BAM 2 yotes! I was thinking to myself, man this is gonna be a great day! Ran the rest of the line and caught nothing until the last jackpot were I picked up a dink red. In between all that I had 3 refusals from marten, they dont want to climb, so I lowered boxes, Didn't want to commit to beaver, tried hooligan, nothing but track going up to the set then bebopping away. I think I need to try hare, they were running all the bunny trails.

Then I stopped at the creek to check a bucket set for otter and as I am standing there looking at it I hear a snort. I look down stream and there is a open lead of water in the center and what do you think popped up, not 1. not 2 not 3 but 4 dang otter! I got a video of them but I dont know how to up load it on here.





They are calling for few inches of snow tonight so hoping things will be moving,

Picked up teh first lynx of the season. seen a bunch of track but nothing near any of my gear.

AV all the yotes have been looking good this year. No fat on them but well furred,

Fun run today Cut a bunch of fresh otter sign, I was prepared this time and dropped a bunch of gear for them. Caught another marten in a #4.





Past few runs I been passing a spot where the yotes and fox have been digging, last run I put in a snowhole. I rolled up on it today and looking at it I couldn't figure out what I was seeing. There was fresh dirt on top of the snow and a bunch of moose track.

I thought maybe a moose had stepped on the trap. So I started digging for it and it wasn't! I had that trap on a 10ft drag. I stood up to scan the area and sure enough there was a lynx sitting looking at me about 25 yds away.





Calling for warm temps this week so switched everything over to haysets.

Nice lynx John! Good luck on those otters. I need to do some trapping in an area with otters at some point.

Ran today, was not impressed with the freaking weather at all. +38 and rained most of the day. Switching over to the haysets was a good call, picked this one up



Looks like it is going to be warm the next few days. Put in a few more otter sets, just a matter of them moving now.

Got one otter, hoping to pick up a couple more. Trying to get everything setup before they come back through again, it's been interesting with the warm spell I can't find a lot of trustworthy routes across the creeks
