Good spot I have that got plowed this year. Last year it did not and what a difference in helping to find them.

Nice finds. You think those are repurpose points, practice, or just rejects? I have one area in my sorghum patch that I think was the knapping school. Every piece is always distorted.

Hard to say. I’m definitely not an expert at identifying them even with a book I have lol. The middle one had a barb broken and can clearly see they reworked it I’m guessing to keep it in service. I don’t believe they were as quick to ditch something and get new like we do today lol.

In taney county MO where I live walking after I plow if you see anything red you better flip it. A buddy told me one time the red ones are heat treated. I don't know. I like looking for them before the tweakers see a plowed field and come hunt at night.

It's crazy how sharp a lot of them still are. The first one my wife found she cut her finger. Then she got mad at me for not telling her.

Nice finds. I was thinking about looking for artifacts last night. Native Americans camped on my farm, across from a spring, where my back barn now is. I also have 2 mounds on my property. I have found around 70 stone tools here.

Cool finds. I often wonder when you find an area where you find quite a few if that is a spot where they settled for the season??

I think so. I have a couple good spots where I find a lot of chips and flakes along with arrowheads. I check out other similar locations and can’t find as much. This spot I usually come home with a pocket full of the flakes and chips

Looks like a stueben type point.
I haven’t had much time to look for any artifacts recently… but it never gets old finding them… even the brokes are cool to find.

I have a stone tool that my dad was gifted by one of his school kids from the Columbia river area. My wife (ironically Colombian) still uses it to pound stuff.

I’m fortunate to have a few places on my farm. I’ve been told by people who have some massive collections that these folks had definite migratory paths, travel routes, hunting camps and tribal camps. Very nomadic based on the season. Everything that I’ve found is on a flat shelf, on the highest ground within 150 yds of water. Same flat shelf with high ground and no immediate water, nothing. Makes sense in my area considering how much they depended on the swamps for travel.

Read a book sometime back that the Paw Paw trees along the rivers mark indigenous migratory paths. They would Johnny Appleseed them.

Cool finds. Can’t wait for Spring when I can get out.
