A 1911 made to proper specs will run all day long. The original contract specifications for the 1911A1 in WWII called for taking two examples from each contract manufacturer detail stripping all of them to the basic parts them putting everything in drum and giving a roll to mix them all up. Then pull random parts for reassembly into pistols for function testing and firing.

Where 1911 got the bad rap was post war bullseye accurizing that tightened things to minimum spec tolerances. Folks forgot what the 1911 was designed to be. It was never meant to be a target pistol. It was and is a combat arm meant to function under all conditions with the ability to detail strip and replace parts in the field without armorers tools.

Simple, both.
1911 in vehicle and glockenspiel in holster.

Maybe but in the initial testing on the 1911 one went 6000 rounds without a single failure to win the contract.

Honestly how many people will even shoot 6000 rounds out of the same pistol in their lifetime. And the gun would run many more times that thats when they stoped the test.

It is impressive seeing the over 100,000 round + test on glocks back in the 90s. And I sure wouldn't like it if my nice 1911 was scraping on the concrete floor when working on a vehicle where as my clock I dont mind as much.

I see my glock as a tool but the 1911s as functional art.

when I got my first glock I ran 3K round after the initial clean and lube the parts the manual said without cleaning it to make sure it would do it. it was filthy but still running great.

in 2 glocks I have over 6K rounds and have had 3 issues and they were all ammunition issues when setting up a new press getting the crimp right.
I have more than 3 but those aren't over 6k some will probably get there sooner than others.

the 19 I carry gets the fewest rounds but does get rounds.

the 17s and 34s used in competition get more rounds.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
