I just got a bobcat call. Had a great conversation with the lady. She only lives 2 miles from me. I told her my price and she said that was fine. We set the time for me to come out then I was just making small talk to find out more about her and her husband just to see if we have mutual friends. Her other line was beeping so she said would you mind holding? I am expecting a call from my dr. I said no problem. When she returned to me, she said that was another trapper returning her call and he said he would do it for free because he does it for fun!!!! I said well I wish you the best and keep my number if he can't get the job done. Rant is now over!! Thank you.

I am going to do exactly what both of you said. I have her phone number and address so I will be following up. I can better understand that happening in the winter but it is supposed to hit 102 degrees here today. Why would a person want to trap in this heat and have to check traps daily and dispose of the animal (relocate or dispatch)for free. I barely want to do it when I am getting paid!!

He might be selling to a "hunt club" or planning on caging one till it gets prime. People don't do things for free in 102 degree weather. With the prices cats have gotten I'm thinking along these lines as well.

Had a guy do that to me here. Got a call back from the lady a couple weeks later. He had a coon in the trap and she couldn't get ahold of him to deal with it. Found out later he forgot about it and went out of town.
Just because something is legal doesn't make it smart.

Im with you Bud. Price is gonna go up for a possible trap shy cat. Average cat fur here this season was around 75 $. Seems like a lot of effort to keep it til prime. If we got prices like some of you up north I would probably do a few free jobs myself.

are there any license requirements for trapping nuisance animals, a regulated trapping season? Yes on both. NWCO license and trapping season for fur starts in December.

He said "Why, thanks, that's an excellent idea! Let me just quit my rewarding, well-paid career to work for a bunch of cranks. I'll get back to you on that..."
