I just got a bobcat call. Had a great conversation with the lady. She only lives 2 miles from me. I told her my price and she said that was fine. We set the time for me to come out then I was just making small talk to find out more about her and her husband just to see if we have mutual friends. Her other line was beeping so she said would you mind holding? I am expecting a call from my dr. I said no problem. When she returned to me, she said that was another trapper returning her call and he said he would do it for free because he does it for fun!!!!
I said well I wish you the best and keep my number if he can't get the job done.

There is no such thing as a free meal. Someone always has to pay for it. Just for your own information, I would call this lady back and see how things are going in a couple of weeks.

Give it a few days Richard. They are only 2 miles away. I would tell her I was in the neighborhood and was just wondering if she ever got her cat and drop off a card and see how the trapping is going. You offer other services that the trapper friend may not offer next time.

I can better understand that happening in the winter but it is supposed to hit 102 degrees here today. Why would a person want to trap in this heat and have to check traps daily and dispose of the animal (relocate or dispatch)for free.
I barely want to do it when I am getting paid!!

He might be selling to a "hunt club" or planning on caging one till it gets prime. People don't do things for free in 102 degree weather.

With the prices cats have gotten I'm thinking along these lines as well.

Had a guy here in town that was a coon hunter that was always wanting "free raccoons" and would trap coons in town for free during the summer. Used to have several people always asking me if I would bring them any live coons caught during the summer. Think they finally got the hint as I havent heard that comment for a while.

Had a guy do that to me here. Got a call back from the lady a couple weeks later. He had a coon in the trap and she couldn't get ahold of him to deal with it. Found out later he forgot about it and went out of town.

Im with you Bud. Price is gonna go up for a possible trap shy cat.

Average cat fur here this season was around 75 $. Seems like a lot of effort to keep it til prime.
If we got prices like some of you up north I would probably do a few free jobs myself.

Yes on both. NWCO license and trapping season for fur starts in December.

They would pay me of course and although accept donations would NOT set a fee for services rendered.


They goal to bankrupt the ADC companies in the TriState area...
