Do your self a favor and get the 900 ace. The 600 has the same if not less HP as an old fan cooled. You'll be much happier with a 900. The 600 will still pull your sled anywhere you need to go but come spring time or deep snow you will be glad you had the extra HP. If you run through any valley's with deep snow the snow 600 ace will struggle.

Thanks, nice work Al. I stopped by the shop this evening. I'll swing in a pick her up tomorrow and reintroduce her to her pack. I took out another one of those bullies that tore her up. Big 115 pound gray male in the same post I caught #4 and 5 in. This one made it a bit further than the rest. [Linked Image]

Had a buddy with me so had him video the remake
Weather was warm and overflow was ever present and maybe a bit angry this week. [Linked Image]

Picked up a couple fox along the way. One in a cubby and one in a coyote snare. I'll get some pics of the one when I get it on the board. [Linked Image]

Ended up getting a 1/4 inch of snow today. Just enough to see new tracks. Speaking of new tracks, the wolves came down to investigate who was howling in the valley again this morning but gave a wide birth around the pee post that I've been picking them off on. Missed on a few on pee posts this week but got some more gear lain. Here's some sign for ya. [Linked Image]

Came out today and found some serious overflow on the Tanana. Got around it without to much trouble.

Dave, haven't had too many problems with the 2012 Scandic WT for having 8300 miles on it. Most of it besides the Ground strap breaking, Fuel pump and clutch were self induced problems that hard riding and rough country caused. I've replaced the track and most of the suspension parts at least once. I'd like to get a 900 ACE in the Expedition WT next. A buddy has one and I'm excited to try it out. Really getting tired of the pogo stick front end.

Nice wolf. Thanks for the videos. Are those cross bars on your sled the original ones we made up? I still got mine from that build. How do you like that tough box?

Hey JR what are using to make your traps white? Are you painting or dyeing them? I need to do that to a few of mine. Thanks.

Thanks JR !! I had a member who bills himself as a "professional outdoorsman" tell me that no sane person would believe that wolves would scent mark a frozen hummock. I guess you didn't know that either . laugh

White I think anybody who calls themselves a professional is usually the opposite. Jr here is the kind of guy who others call a professional.
Still my favorite thread JR. the tracks on your trail make me realize that I took the wolves on my line for granted. I sure miss seeing tracks like that.

That's what a good number of my pee posts are, I guess the wolves in my area don't know that yet. Works good to chop one loose and put it where you need it...

I gotta admit that chewed up wolf might not have made it back to town with me. Take the head and shoulder for head mount and the rest is bait. Nice repair job!

Ryan McLeod..... The only reason I got a million views is because of all the pictures I post as most of us cannot read.

Got back from the cabin today with a little fur for the stretchers and a new lease on life. My coyote bait on the Tanana isn't producing coyotes but picked up my 3rd and 4th fox of it. A small pack of wolves came by this morn but didn't venture in. [Linked Image]Snared a cross also and the hips were already rubbed. On down the trail and caught this goofy looking little guy in a Bridger #3 protecting a cat cubby. 72 pound male pup. This is why we have leash laws in Alaska. Threw the collar in the woods and put this German Shepard on the stretcher. Pretty odd colored pup. [Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
Had a wolverine working the trail pretty hard cleaning off salmon heads off the marten poles. I'd tripped most of the traps and left the heads hanging to feed the few marten that are left. Not thinking about the wolverine that is now trained to climb marten poles to steal the free meal. I'd already caught my one wolverine I allow myself per year but have now changed that to two wolverine per year limit and left him a surprise.
The overflow was ridiculous this week but didn't pose much of a problem. [Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
Missed a few wolves on the posts this week. Lots of activity just not much getting pinched. Called the wolves from the cabin 3 nights in a row and couldn't get them to step on the traps. Swing and a miss. [Linked Image]

Got a little bit of snow last night but todays wind will probably send it downstream. Travel is still pretty rough going [Linked Image]

The caribou moved in now and are all over the trails. Just when ya think you can set some blind trail sets.
[Linked Image] Got some work to do on the Tundra and heading back out on Wednesday to try to catch a few more dogs
