How effective is bluegill for trapping bait? I'm trying to use things in my area because I figure it would be the most effective and besides that it would be free and I don't want to have to buy factory bait. I might give in but I don't like paying so much for so little when I can whip something up on my own. I was thinking of maybe salting down some little ones, or maybe cutting up the meat somewhat fine and mixing it into another recipe. I'm not sure how much difference between the fish are to the animals but i'm sure they have preference.

First of all, check on your regulations,to make sure what fish are legal to use. And though you may be able to make some types of bait--cheaper than you can buy it--you may actually catch more on bait made by a professional bait or lure maker. Sometimes--spending money--saves you money.

Fish is good bait for coon, mink, otter, grey fox, & more. I prefer fish fresh as poss. Catch & freeze until ready to use.

Till that day.....
