We had a couple inches of snow. I did see some coyote tracks but I would have thought a coyote would have just taken the mink and trap I only have it staked with sticks not wired off. The part that was eaten was in water the head was out of water. So would another mink eat this one? [Linked Image]

A hawk or an owl.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

My guess would be owls, they have gotten several of my rats and mink over the years. They often times come back to the same spot the next night, looking for another meal.

If I'm reading the OP correctly, there was snow (so one would have seen tracks) and the part eaten was underwater ( which would make most suggestions incorrect)

Turtles around here are very inactive once it starts snowing but no tracks and only parts under water eaten could point to a turtle. Don't know if mink are known to eat other mink. Figure an otter would have left more sign.

I had some rats with parts of there heads eaten off, they were fairly deep- I blamed it on crayfish, saw several when I was setting.

There was some snow then it snowed again. I guess a bird of prey could have eaten it and the snow covered it.

Would be nice if a camera could watch all our sets. I've had a number of things on my lines over the years that couldn't figure out
