Back in the late 60's I had a small radio and at night the am stations from the states would "skip" in.
Used to listen to WLS I think it was from Chicago. Some of the songs I heard were-Bee Gees -"you dont know what its like",Friend and lover-"reach out in the darkness" Donovan-"hurdy gurdy man" and lots of others-they played those songs a lot.

Boco.WLS was indeed from Chicago,I used to pick it up late nights in MN. I really liked the Bee Gees during their pre disco times.
My Donovan cassette bit the dust not long ago--Sunshine superman and Atlantis ,were as good as Hurdy gurdy man.
ADC--I saw that one of tour 80s groups --did cherry pie. The only song of cherry pie I heard was by Skip and Flip and I doubt they were anywhere near the same song.
Skip went on to become the Byrds bass player from 1970 to 1973,he died a couple years ago.

I was subjected to everything from Tony Bennett to Steppenwolf to the Archie's. It was a difficult time.

i dont think Mick Jagger and Keith Richards had to wear make up to get peoples attention . Dont remember seeing Eric Clapton wear it either. AC/DC showed up in the 70's and Angus was/is a real character in that school boy outfit, running around like a chicken on meth. The guy can play that guitar though and I always like listening to them.

All good music but nothing compared to Back Street Boys and N*Sync.

There was this young crew that started out in Jacksonville Florida in the mid 60s. Not known as a 60s band but exploded in popularity in the 70s. They did settle on the name for the band by 1969. Surprised they haven't received honourable mention on this thread. I think I new every lyric to all the big numbers in my teens, lol.

Borrowing a quote from Young Guns...I gotta part with a nasty secret...there is a Back Street Boys song I Iike. Just one, and my man card remains intact.

Looking at little girls with bad intent, I don't like any song he does,[/quote]

Just describing the character in the song as evil nothing more. IMO

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

I agree...Simply describing an ill intended person...

Perhaps fewer people these days in our "main stream" should have sand castle virtues

And the sand-castle virtues are all swept away
In the tidal destruction the moral melee
The elastic retreat rings the close of play
As the last wave uncovers the new-fangled way

But your new shoes are worn at the heels
And your suntan does rapidly peel
And your wise men don't know how it feels
To be thick as a brick
