Nice looking dogs. What animals do you hunt with them?

I hunt marten with the dogs. and a badger. tell me how to insert a video. there are many interesting videos Hi KOSOI, to insert a video from YouTube, firstly hit share on the video and COPY TO CLIPBOARD. Then when you want to put video on here, hit the movie icon above and you will get options. Hit on youtube video. This will be displayed [video:youtube] You then tap between the brackets, and paste the video in there like this [video:youtube] https://youtu.be/FqxjDSLuLIk And that should be it

without YouTube is it impossible? sorry I don't think so, but I may be wrong. If you have google photo's, you can create a link to your video on there, and paste the link to here. People can then hit on link, and watch your video.

That badger was close to the dog..wow
try not to have the beaver laying with the castor pointing down or the juice flow out when squished. Looks like a successful float trip.
What price does the castor go for when sold over there? thank you for advice

My dog REALLY enjoyed your dog videos! He is still barking. My sleeping wife however is not a big fan of our dog right now. I thoroughly enjoy seeing/reading about hunting and trapping in other countries. Thank you for posting. In spite of our respective political leaders, we have very much in common, and knowing that makes me smile, and gives me hope for mankind.

I imagine that taking the castor makes it profitable to trap beaver? Russian buyers must be paying pretty good...?

Does not make any sense to me........
According to the price in the catalog you posed the link to in the above post:
Bridger 330 Magnum in Russia is 1016 Rubles which converts to US $13.49
Bridger 330 Magnum in Minnesota Trapline Products (MTP) website in US is $21.75 (MTP manufactures the Bridger line of traps)

My only thought is that perhaps dollars are worth much more than what the official exchange rate is. This was the way things were with the Cuban peso when I was in Havana many years ago.

Bridger traps are manufactured in Taiwan, and there is a higher importation tax on steel that comes from there. So if they are shipped to a USSR distribution place therefor cheaper in the long run without a 30% duty paid on the steel. So those 3 beaver in the picture what would the castor weigh from them ? 0.9 to 1 kilo?

I asked Tim about this and this was his reply...
"Sergey is a dealer of ours in Russia. He made a large purchase a couple years ago when prices and freight were much cheaper than today. Looking at his website most of his inventory is gone showing 0 in stock. The Bridger traps went right from Taiwan to him and actually got there cheaper than having them shipped here. We shipped the MB traps and the various accessories dye, wax, lure, from here in a container."

So those 3 beaver in the picture what would the castor weigh from them ? 0.9 to 1 kilo? from these three beavers, I took 580 grams of castor oil. the size of castor oil depends on the habitat. I caught these three in one pond. according to my observations in ponds (in stagnant water), there is less castor. but in the river, where there is a current there is much larger. I don’t know how to explain it yet.

Kosoi, I have observed the same thing for many years. Colony beaver that live with friendly other beavers have no need to mark their territory very much. But river beaver territory are often invaded by other beavers. These beaver spend more time marking their territory and tend to have larger castors. In lakes with colony beaver I average 7-8 beavers for one pound of dry castor. River beaver I average 4-5 beaver for one lb of castor. This is a nice set of river castors taken a year or two ago.

If my understanding of the exchange rate with the ruble is correct you are getting about $175 USD for one lb of castor? Is that just dry castor as seen in the above picture or prepared castor?
Anyway, 60,000 rubles must make your very happy?! Yes?

Thanks for the explanation Kosoi on the castor. Was wondering when I saw them laying down in the pond bank, we would never do that as it puts pressure on the sacs and juice comes out = liquid gold being pe-d away
Do you mind on explaining how yours is prepared to be sold.

Do you mind on explaining how yours is prepared to be sold. I cook just like you. I hang it on a wire, turn it over for the first 3-4 days. then I dry for another 10-12 days. after that I put it in the freezer.

He is asking if you saw tracks or sign of your "elk". (Also, I think he is saying that maybe what you call "elk" we may call moose here)? What we call moose in north america.

did not understand your question a little? /did you harvest an elk; later on you said you did "when the wall fell," they were shipping lots of SKS rifles over here so for 400$ you got a shipping container with 10 rifles and 10 boxes of shells plus a small handling fee from a broker

Kosoi, are castor prices going up now in Russia? Does the castor you sell go into the perfume trade or something else? the price of castor has now stopped at around 30,000r = for 1kg. I think that the price will hardly rise. I use 65-70% for a medicinal tincture, which is now very well bought. and I sell the remaining 30% to the same manufacturers of medicinal tinctures

Interesting. Did some research and found this. "Castoreum has also been used to treat headaches, which makes sense given that it contains salicylic acid, the main ingredient in aspirin."

Those smoked beaver legs look very good. What are the spices on it?
What do you add to the beaver meat to make your kobaski? Do you smoke that also?

Nice Boar Kosoi. We do not have them here in North eastern Ontario. They must use trails when the snow gets to be a Meter deep? Have you tried snaring them?

It will be interesting to see the meat come back from the butchers from that hog. In winter time her they move to the black spruce forest and eat the sphagnum moss well down below the ground till they have a 2 meter deep hole. What habitat do they move in the winter in your area Kosoi

It will be interesting to see the meat come back from the butchers from that hog. In winter time her they move to the black spruce forest and eat the sphagnum moss well down below the ground till they have a 2 meter deep hole. What habitat do they move in the winter in your area Kosoi I don't understand the question a little bit ? The game that we harvest we cut up ourselves. In winter, wild boars migrate to the swamps, where they feed on the roots of reeds.

There are herds of wild boars with 60-80 heads. That number of animals must do a lot of damage when they get into agricultural fields. So are there 3-4 litters a year with 8 piglets ? So of the southern guys do it for a living chasing hogs. GPS trackers on one and find where they are going for a little night time thermal shooting. ps the one tracker that was used was put on the doorway at the DNR office, the seconds one was shot @ close range mmmmm poor sportsmanship at it's finest

nice viewing of the clips sure shows the dexterity of them travelling in the trees and read what your dog is smelling many a raccoon hunter can say the same as when they take 10 out of a building , but the dog keeps on going back !
