Have seen many good bucks walking by this tree over the past 30 years. It right at the top of a steep riverbank.
I've always wanted to put a stand there but it's super thick. Pricklyash/buckthorn. Horrible getting in there!
Decided today was go time. I'm making progress.
Super excited for this tree for future bowhunts.
Pics to follow.

Bedding area? You able to cross the creek or you said river, too deep to go across to stay out of the bush? Best of luck!

I've used ratchet straps to draw together 6 aspen trees to put a ladder stand in

Blessings on your success

Looks like a good day. I'm too busy ice fishing to worry about deer hunting lol.

I'd be looking at that with canoe access in mind.

I see you had good help along. That is a long ways up for a old fat man to climb a tree.

Buckmink, A narrow corridor between 2 major bedding areas.
330, neat idea. Never heard that one but can see the beauty in it.
DHH, yep, sure was.
Rick, I'll name it for sure. Hopefully "Booner tree" cool
49er, I think deer hunting 365. Don't fish much anymore.
Poscoe. Could be done and up untill a few years ago, I would have. Now I'm old and getting lazy.
Will mow a path and keep it debris free for a clean walk in.
Mark, 2 Old Dogs working together smile.
Yep, today got me purdy whooped.
There WILL be carnage out of this stand in the future ;)Buckling,

And yes, those are all deer trails you see. It's a major travel route.

I would cut a trail within 20 yards of the stand and rake it clean and the deer will take the trail away from you.

The booner tree.I also like to get my stands up as soon as possible then stay away from them untill it's time to hunt.

But a supreme hunter with your skills and the massive pile of deer you have killed PLUS most of them trophy mature bucks you must be right .

I have 16 ladder stands up all year long. Some are 20 yrs old. Seats are metal mesh and Butt pads are t he only thing that has to come in after season.
Deer get used to what's out there. 9 of us hunting we went this way. Once a year we go out pre season to check ratchet straps.
