Ok here’s the main reason you don’t leave a stand up year round Oh it’s fine if the land is yours but the property I bought last October had a neighbor that hunted it and was too lazy to take down his stands Ok 330 I know health reasons can be a problem but assistance may be necessary ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2022/04/full-40419-134941-b420ee64_8800_47d7_92ab_b6f6623ac4f4.png) This stand is going to cost me around 2000 bucks for the log it ruined I had to use a saws all to cut the platform to remove it Yes, but if you loosen it up at the end of season and retighten each season you won’t have those issues. Are you cutting the tree down and using it for saw logs? BNB, looks like a nice thick spot. My uncle always set me up in spots similar to that as a kid with good results. Just moved back into an area that has some deer and hoping to get a few new ones out myself this year and maybe even try out my new used bow! Good luck at the new spot. Happy trapping! ScottW

I've got 10's of tree stand presets all over the place. But I use ropes to climb up the trees so its just a loop of paracord left in the tree so I can pull the my climbing rope up the next time i want to hunt the tree,
If you it was your own land...I'd leave em up all year too unless I was worried about theft. On another place, its a matter of whether the owner plans on logging any time soon.and theft.
Also, its a bit late in the season but a lot of guys do a lot of their pre-scouting for next season before things green up again without making as much fuss in the woods that would bother deer when season comes.

You like doing it ...fine. we've hunted this way for 48 years...actually did you take down your old wooden stands in the 70s or 80s before metal was popular???

I've used one of those cranks that you ratchet strap to the tree and then winch your ladder stand up. Saves a lot of stress on ya

330 never had or hunted out of a wooden stand was taught not to ruin trees with nails on other peoples land !!! Until I broke my back I used a steel cougar claw climbing stand Carrying that thing miles down a many of hill and holler. When I got on a deer I was hard to find until I killed it But age and injuries put a stop to that I have 11 ladder stands that go up and come down every year

Look at all the possibilities , you could monitor some water sets while hunting. Beaver, coon, mink, otter, etc.
