Had an uncle there. He always had high praise for the bravery of the Americans there,

Two uncles went in by air. One in the 101st and one in the 82nd. Uncle KT in the 101st got a bullet in the back for his troubles. Uncle Commie in the 82nd had also jumped into Sicily. Both survived the war.

My dad was there. My dad had 3 brothers there one never made it off the beach and two died in the action in France another two brothers and my dad served in the pacific theater where he lost another to the Japanese the other was crippled by a bullet and my dad was subject to nightmares as long as I remember but I never heard either complain or do anything but with honor of the country My ma’s family lost even more with 8 sons lost in action that generation truly was the greatest

Agreed nightlife. We owe them our remembrance and honor for sure! We live the way we do because of what so many valiant men and women sacrificed for America.
Blessings, Mark

Just did a little research on a cousin, John E McLeod AAF pacific. KIA August 13 1945. Japan would surrender the next day. Dang, I don't even know what to say. What an unfortunate situation!
