I'm trying to figure out ways to be more involved within the trapping world. I would like to find some way to educate other youth on trapping since I believe it's very important to do so. What are some ways I can be more involved on the state level and with education of youth trappers? Thanks in advance!

Join your states trappers association. Then talk to the director and ask him how you can get more involved.

I have done a few things on a local level to help encourage people to trap. I have taught my school's Wildlife classes section on trapping with another classmate who also traps. I have made it the topic of my demonstration speech for forensics, and I have used FFA to reach people through Ag in the Classroom and Food for America. I know this isn't anything huge like state level, but everything starts small.

I only put state level as that was all I could think of last night but it's very true that everything starts small.

My biggest piece of advice that has worked for me is to ask lots of questions and talk to lots of people. If you want something to happen, then you might have to make it happen. Say you want a "Learn about Trapping Day" or something along those lines, talk to local shooting ranges, Ag teachers, or community members. There is an event around where I live and it's the kiddo day where they get to try shooting different guns, learn about trapping, cast some poles, and just get exposed to all of that stuff. There's always going to be someone that wants to help you. If you're polite and genuinely want to do something like this, it will work out.

Donate a subscription of a trapping magazine to your local library or school

I do have a few older trapping magazines, I don't know if the school would take them though but they have allowed worse.

Do you have a local rod and gun or sportsmans club you can join. Educating hunters and other sportsman about trapping sure helps us. As said before, join your state trappers association and they will give you plenty of ways to get involved. Good luck!

No local clubs sadly, the directors are usually at conventions so will probably ask at the spring convention.

You can always mentor a new trapper.

Sorry, I did not see this a few nights ago, I found someone that wants to learn how to trap and put up fur, so I will be teaching someone in exchange for help on my line.

Encourage the younger generation to not post what could be construed as distasteful pics on the internet. Also be careful what and how they say things. Don’t post they’re not skinning their catches. Lots of lurkers out to make trapping look bad.

There are a lot of people who are out to end trapping and I get what you mean by distasteful pictures as I have seen them first hand.
