Appears to be Winchester 1895 carbine. Presuming 30 US (30-40). Anyone know for sure?

I know the history of "Old Three Toes". Having spent a lifetime trapping wolves in Alaska, Idaho, Wyoming, Russia, Mongolia, I understand the "magic". Thanks for the post, Boone. I understand the "magic" of those coyotes hooked up in the shadow of that rock cairn where Old Three Toes met his demise. Neat history...Thanks.

Hunted antelope for years in Harding County SD, I remember the story of old 3 toes. Beautiful country, I sure miss it, Boone is the marker in SD? I remember old 3 toes did a lot of traveling. Yes it is. He was known in quite a large area but caused most of the problems in SD.
