Biggest flock would be at Squaw Creek Natl Wildlife Refuge in nw mo years ago (I'm sure it's not that anymore). Thousands upon thousands of waterfowl. I've seen big flocks of turkeys here, probably 75-100 birds.

Antelope about 150 Elk about 400 Mule deer I was surrounded by 30 while checking traps. That was wild. I reset a trap after looking for 30 minutes for a trap someone stole. I took a smoke break on a Boulder nearby. Checked my texts looked up and I was surrounded. Furthest was about 30 yards. No tag for the area I was in. I had my choice and no tag

I've seen a herd of 150+ Whitetails about an hour from here. Don't know if that was the full herd as they were moving in and out of a wooded semi-urban environment. I was with a buddy who was familiar with the area and told me someone there was feeding them.
This was witnessed while driving by on a fairly busy road with some of the deer so close to the road you could hit them with a rock. Unreal activity brought on by feeding them.

Back in the late 1960s several of the Wildlife Ecology students woud rotate and take turns to drive out from campus at Madison and go to a strategic spot at Horicon Marsh in the dark and use infra red with quadrants to count geese. At times there were nearly 250K based on the samples we took. Noisy to hear that many geese just talking with each other and really noisy when the all take off! I can't imagine even what 1 million would look or sound like.

We had thirty some inches of snow around 14 years ago. When the snow melted , I counted a herd of 284 deer, a friend, who I was with, also counted. 284 deer and his girlfriend, who was also there, counted 286 deer. We later found a large area in my friends woods with several inches of deer poop, 6 dead deer and all the trees and bushes stripped of everything a deer could reach. It's the only Winter deer yard I have ever seen.

Porcupine caribou herd, in northeastern Alaska, upper Coleen River. Saw several thousand caribou at one time. The biologist told us later that about 30,000 came by our camp over a period of three days. There were periods of time when nearly the whole flat out beyond camp was an entire mass of moving animals. One of the most amazing sights I've ever seen.

I was in the Western Arctic caribou herd in Unalakleet that herd is 450,000 we were the only hunters in a valley and had herds of caribou on every mountain surrounding us.
We were allowed five per day at the time. No tags needed. Season open all but one month out of the year.
