Been using heated buckets from tractor supply for years, always take the warranty on them for two years, they last about that long. Come on when freezing & off when it warms up.

To keep it unthawed, the best thing you can do is keep it in your freezer. Yup! Lol

I've been using a "hot plate " for decades

To keep it thawed we use and heated base with out galvanized waterer on top of it. We've had electric in the chicken house ever since we ad a chicken house (long time) and have had no issues. We also use the electric to run lights on timers to increase production in the winter.
Eh...wot?

How do you do it? We're leary about electric heat in a chikn house. They sell a heater base for the galvanized wagerers. They have them at feed stores and rural king here. You can also order them from Jeffers supply catalog.
