Nice one jbyrd.
To be honest. Any deer i have in my sights before sending an arrow or bullet. I watched 6 deer from my back deck this evening at 70 yards. I'll wait later this month before adding another to the freezer.

Jbyrd, he looks like one we’ll be targeting next year if he makes it through the season this year. He’s not real wide but has mass, split brows, and a kicker off his right G2.

My “best” is a toss up. One scored better one was more mature. Both ate well. Not too impressive by the standards of guys across the country but for bow only kills in Jersey and now Md., I’m pretty proud of both.

Not the biggest but most memorable. It was November 10 2003 and I spotted this guy in a ditch in the middle of a field guarding a doe from a couple dinks. At the time I only had one rifle and had loaned it to my brother who was hunting across the woods from this location. I grabbed an Ithaca model 37 pump 12 gauge and went in. Crawled across 2 cow pastures on wet ground and got ate up by an electric fence while going under. Finally got within 70 yards of them and the doe saw me and took off. 4 a hello of 00buck later and I found this guy. My brother heard the shooting and boy was he (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) when he came out lol

Love the black face ! Mine was about the 5th in line scoring wise but just a beautiful animal! If I could have afforded it at the time I would have done a full body mount

Killed a few nice ones but have this picture handy , it was last years archery buck.

Killed him Nov 13 chasing a doe. 40 yard shot, watched him pile up about 75 yards from where he stood

I don't know where a single picture of a deer I have killed is. I have several of the boys.

All of them always turn out looking the same. A brown cylinder that stinks .

Not my biggest but by far my most memorable. Nov 7th 2020 he was locked down with a doe in a creek bottom. He just got done chasing a 6pt off an was rubbing a tree. After 30 minutes of snort wheezing, grunting an thrashing the brush I called him up out of it onto the hillside that I was walking down on my way back to the truck which was an overgrown strip mine field. The golden rod was so tall I didn't see him untill he was at 20 yards an he started to cut downwind so I stood up already at full draw gave him 2 or 3 more steps so he was a little more broadside an sent one through the boiler. He ran 50 yards an piled up. By far my best hunt ever.

Lots of nice deer pics. I like that muley elkguy. JoMiBro that looks like a wide heavy buck, and a heck of a shot you placed on him. Bowhunting is so much fun.

330 he was almost completely white, even his nose and inside his ears were snow white. He had brown patch on his forehead and a small spot on his hip. We had trail cam pics for 4 years but only saw him the one time

So there are some serious buck hunters on here, lol! A lot of awesome looking deer and great pics too!! Yeah you can’t eat antlers, but there’s nothing like watching one grow over the years and finally outsmarting him.
I wanted to comment on so many on here I’d add about 2 more pages, lol.
The one with the 25” spread and 29” main beams is a beast!
The albino had to have been watched for years to grow to that size!
Those early season bow kill bucks have some serious slick coats on them. I notice it especially when one is side by side with a November killed buck on the wall.

I’ll agree that the antlers don’t necessarily mean the most to some as far as rememberable, I have one that’s nothing but a 142” 8pt with a kicker and a 3rd main beam that sticks out just because of how it unfolded. He was seen and followed on camera all year and we guesstimated him in the 120’s. It wasn’t until I saw him in person I realized he was a lot bigger than what we thought. What’s cool is I grunted him to me from 300yds away. The entire time I’m texting my son and telling him about the deer and he’s like he ain’t gonna make 140” and I’m telling him I’m looking at the deer in person!! We went back and forth the entire time this buck is “BullDawg” walking to me. It was a perfect setup, in a climber about 25ft up, the sun at my back, and the deer closing the distance. My last text to my son about what he would score was, “Well, we’re about to see firsthand what he scores because by the time you read this, he’ll be dead!”
I was shaking so bad after the shot I had to wait 10min to climb down. The entire time my son is blowing up my phone asking for pics, lol.
What’s cool is I had pics from velvet to the day I shot him. Even had him on video walking by grunting and all I can call it is growling while on the trail of a doe.

That is a great buck CH, and it sounds like you did him a favor to take him when you did.

RN's buck is as wide as they get I think

I am horrible at taking pictures at deer camp , the few I do take are typically in the dark as an after though.
I live to much in the moment and there is always something to be doing if there is daylight wish I had more pictures

Congratulations

Melanistic?

Melanistic would be black. Leucistic is the lack of dark pigment without being true albino.

From 1993 to 2008 I joined the pope and young Club four times and would now like to know how to join the spoon and crock pot Club. Asking for my grandson.

They are under him in the Spruce bog. He went straight down when I shot him and I had a heck of a time getting him out of there.

I killed this buck last season after chasing him 3 years. He had a 3rd beam in the center of his head that had been broken off, it had its own pedicle as well [Linked Image]

Some truly amazing pics guys! Have not shot anything close in size to those hogs. My largest in rack and body I never got a pic of. It was a deer drive and the group drove it straight to me. Was fun but fast. I let the youngster in the group tag it. I think he was 12. He could not believe I gave it to him. He was on cloud nine for sure! great memory

The two with drop tines were taken 10 yrs apart and about 30 miles apart. I only know of one other drop tine deer that has been taken in the area, so not very often.

I had this Buck less than 100 yds away for over 20 mins the 2nd to last day of season. My son only had a doe tag. It's a 190 class buck. I picked up the sheds about 2 miles from where I seen him. I did kick him up opening weekend of Pheasant season.

Prettiest I’ve been after. Tried during the late winter bow season. I didn’t kill it. Lost it to wolves a month or so after the photo.

I think living in those big cedar/tamarack swamps what they rub on does that. The night was wet and enhanced the chocolate antlers, I’d decided when I took him I’d have them sprayed with gloss clear finish to keep that look. I put the cart before the horse on that one.

This is my finished euro mount from the 10 point I killed second day of season. Not a very impressive rack but very dark chocolate antlers!

That euro really turned out great.
We get a fair amount of chocolates here, maybe my “ what they rub on theory “ is incorrect?
I have a smaller 10 point rack hanging in the place that’s very dark as well. Sorry no pic.

7X7 on left and 6X6 on right. I posted an earlier pic of each of them when I shot them in 1977 and 1981 on page 3 on the bottom.

I was shaking worse than he was🤣🤣. So proud of him getting his first at 6 years old. He put in the work practicing with his 22 over the summer.
I bought him a ruger American 300blk that mirrors his 22. No lie, he was holding a 4" group at 150 yards the first time he shot it.

Just got this guy the other day. Not the biggest I've ever shot, but the biggest I ever shot while hunting. Had to dispatch a monster 12 point in my former life that was struck by a minivan and was suffering.

Pic of a deer my son killed when he was11 . He climbed in a ladder stand with a 50 cal muzzleloader and I backed off about 60 yards into thick bushes and put on a mock buck fight, This deer came in from behind us at one point he was about 15feet from me, he walked on down the hill to left of the stand the boy came thru on his end the bullet found its mark

The first buck I shot in 2010 scored 172 shot on my dads farm
The second shot in 2019 about a mile from the first on the neighbors. It scored 166 both shot with a 264 win mag.

Some great looking bucks guys, congrats to everyone that posted. It’s a tough call for me, been lucky enough to get some great bucks over the years. I think this one maybe looks better than the rest most days, other days I choose another. Lol He’s far from the biggest I’ve killed but he’s a looker.

I honestly don’t know, never weigh them. Typical weight for a mature whitetail in my parts. These pics don’t really show the body but the very first buck my oldest son killed was a real heavyweight. It’s neck was like a barrel.

Those bucks need barrel necks to hold up all that mass atop their head!! Great bucks RVSask, thanks for sharing!

Heck the head on that one would weigh what most of our does do here...

This one was from 2018. Old deer, chased him for the two seasons prior. Finally found him on his feet during the rut. Grunted him to about 8 steps from the base of my tree and smoked him.

but man is this a good one, I got to do a rough score on it a few days back. Man was this kid excited. A deer of a life time for sure. The best deer I have laid my hands on and probably the best I ever will.

Yes oklahoma deer just about 8 miles from me. I scored it at 194 6/8 and the taxidermy got 192. Them was gross non typical. I don't know what the taxidermy guy got typical but I came up with 188. I was just happy to be able to hold something like that. Kid and his dad never knew a deer like that was around they don't feed corn or run cameras. Just happen to come by with a doe on the day they decide to go sit.

If I EVER get a chance to shoot at one like that, that is exactly how I would want it to happen.
Maybe having seen some of his rubs .... not much else.
I have seen rubs that made me wonder if I brought along a big enough gun, almost gave me cold chills. But never saw the buck that made them.
I moved away from there shortly after that season. Never will forget, and have never seen anything similar since.
Thanks Matt !

The issue with rubs is I’ve seen a spike work over an 8” diameter tree for over 20minutes, lol. Granted another deer may have made the initial rub, but that spike gave it everything he had.

I was happy for the kid he still doesn't realize just how big that deer is. Seems like people get lucky around here a lot, few years back a kid went and sit on a fence line playing a game on his phone and heard a sound, looked up and a buck had jumped the fence and was looking at him, he shot it and it scored 175. Guess some people got all the luck lol.

Mighty fine looking bucks. I have killed quite a few bucks but nothing like these . My all time favorite was this year hunting with my oldest daughter. [Linked Image]
She did great stock and set up. A hunt I will always cherish and remember. Jon

This is my biggest. Had an official scorer do both green score (198 5/8) and after drying period score (195 7/8) those are the gross scores.

Sitting with my daughter when she shot this buck. Great day. I’ve killed bigger, but she was thrilled and I was one proud dad. Eric

Way to go beardedtrapper, getting out there with your daughter. Can’t wait till mine is old enough to go, she’s going to try for gobblers with me this spring for the first time.

Love those muley pics yessir! Arrowed my first mule deer this year, now I need one with those deep forks like that.

Love hunting the muleys. Me and oldest boy are already looking forward to getting back after them next year. This is the first year in a long time I've personally hunted whitetails seriously and that was only because of the big one my boy shot.

Thanks KSTrapper. Chasing gobblers with her is fun. First one she ever shot at she missed. Redeemed herself the next spring. Sorry jbyrd not trying to sabotage the deer thread. Eric [Linked Image]

No we were a mile and a half in on public ground. Walk in only. Only way to get him out was on our backs. It was a long night. Lol Top buck was probably as big body wise lucky only 3/4 of a mile in but was by myself and it was about 85 degrees. I would be interested in knowing what those mature grain fed muleys weight though. I've never brought one out whole. They look like they weigh 300 lbs alive. They are toads. Feel like 400 after u pack them out.
Lol

Haven't figured out how to post a picture yet but Mr.Swamp trappers make the best hunters and fisherman because we know the little details make the difference.
