Before I make my decision on the worker's request, I'd like to see their present benefit schedule. They may or may not already have ample employee benefits. I THINK their main complaint is time off. They get something like 30 days per year, but using any takes a week or two advanced request, and are basically on call 24/7 the rest of the time. But it might've been a RR Union Thug tell me that, lol.

This is what happens when you rely on Gov't money. They are highly subsidized and regulated.
There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

Neutered in this case by subsidies taken.

Ol sniffy passed it on to the congress, I saw yesterday. That way he can claim he was behind the unions all the way. How can any normal thinking person think that he is worth a 25% increase in his wages. Talk about inflationary! Lee that 25 percent is over 5 and half year period!!!! We have not had a raise in 7 years ....that figures out under 5 percent a year and inflation is 8.3 percent this year....not even keeping up with inflation

What authority does Congress have to settle a strike? Amtrak I can see. But with Union Pacific? Burlington Northern? Norfolk Southern? Those are private outfits are they not?
Easy to vote your way into socialism, but impossible to vote your way out of it.

I’m not sure if I should be worried or excited that the country can be crippled by shutting down the railroad.
How about you? The railroad is absolutely vital. The railroad shutting down could be an extremely serious matter for Americans if it isn’t resolved quickly, especially after the supply chain issues and price increases we’ve experienced over the last few years. With diesel prices and trucker shortages, reduced barges due to low water levels, and other shipping problems, the last thing we need is the railroad getting shut down. Think about how much grain, oil, chemicals, vehicles, and more is moved efficiently by rail. We need rail to keep working smoothly.

They'll never get a permit to lay a track through the petunias in the Capitol garden.
Let's go Brandon
"Shall not comply" with morons who don't understand "shall not infringe."

You'd think the Biden administration would be doing back flips over having a strike. Their not burning diesel fuel. To heck with economy. Who owns a lot of the railroad? The same guy who owns most of the democrats.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

[/quote] Sounds like a good time to strike, and get decent working conditions. Worked for a company for 34 yrs. We got 1/2 day sick leave a month for the 34 yrs I worked there. They wanted to break the union so they took sick leave away. The union membership accepted the contract. I didn't,I retired when I was 53 best thing I ever did.

I've always heard it was more about work hours then pay. I don't care how much money you make. If you're not around to spend it who cares. The other item to note is that for many years the RR's have been consolidating and now 4 or 5 RR's control the lions share of cross country shipping. Maybe with a strike all the containers being shipped from the west coast to the east will now go through the Panama canal and unload in the east. If the RR's start losing business the strike will end in a hurry. When I dealt with unions who threatened to go on strike we put a plan in place for Mangement to fill slots and keep the plant working. When the realized the strike could hurt them more then help them they changed their minds.
Some people never go crazy, they must live miserable lives!
