Nittany Lion OP Don't call me Mister, Mister Joined: Dec 2006 Central Pennsylvania	A saw the book "Fifty Years a Hunter and Trapper" by E. N. Woodcock, it gives a copyright of 1941. It does not give an edition number that I could find. Last edited by Nittany Lion; 12/07/22 08:09 AM. I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

BigBob trapper B Joined: Dec 2006 St. Louis Co, Mo	It should say on the same page as the copyright number, library of congress number, if any, publishers info, etc. sometimes it's just a string of numbers, 1 2 3 4 etc, the edition is the last one. I don't think it was published in 1913, it mentions the book was taken from articles published in Hunter Trader Trapper written by E. N. Woodcock from 1903 to 1913. I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Your book printed in 1941 might be an identical edition to the original book printed in 1913, but it's not the first printing. If they used the same plates to reprint, it would still be considered a first edition. Just not as valuable since it's not the first printing of the first edition. You can have the same book say Printed in 1913 but have different covers depending on which printing of the 1st edition is.
