A saw the book "Fifty Years a Hunter and Trapper" by E. N. Woodcock, it gives a copyright of 1941. It does not give an edition number that I could find.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Looks like it was originally published in 1913. 1941 appears to be the second edition

Is there a number line present on the copyright page? If there is and it has a 1 in it in any sequence it is a good indicator that it is a first edition.

Eh...wot?

I have a copy of that title but I don't think mine is a first edition.

It should say on the same page as the copyright number, library of congress number, if any, publishers info, etc. sometimes it's just a string of numbers, 1 2 3 4 etc, the edition is the last one.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

The only thing is says on the copyright page is:

Copyright 1941
by A. R. Harding Publishing Co.

I don't think it was published in 1913, it mentions the book was taken from articles published in Hunter Trader Trapper written by E. N. Woodcock from 1903 to 1913.

There's a difference between edition and printing number.

Books can be first edition, but not first printing. Your book printed in 1941 might be an identical edition to the original book printed in 1913, but it's not the first printing. If they used the same plates to reprint, it would still be considered a first edition. Just not as valuable since it's not the first printing of the first edition.

Clear as mud?

Its difficult with those older small printing house books. They don't state 1st edition, nor do they have marks to indicate edition. You can have the same book say Printed in 1913 but have different covers depending on which printing of the 1st edition is.

Harding, A.R., Woodcock, E.N., Editor
Fifty Years a Hunter

Columbus OH: Privately printed by the author, 1913. First Edition. Hardcover. Woodcock, E. (A.R. Harding Editor) FIFTY YEARS A HUNTER AND TRAPPER experiences and observations of E.N. Woodcock, the noted hunter and trapper, as written by himself and published from 1903-1913. 1913 Ohio. 320 pp, ill.
