My goodness. How happy that would make me to get a nice catch like that. Oregon actually did a fair bit of transplanting too as I understand it. That is such an awesome pic man, thanks for sharing.

That is correct. Oregon had a deal with Colorado trading bighorn sheep for otters. No LA otters in Oregon

I enjoyed reading about Mr. Sevin, looks like he did send a bunch of otters to central states of Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, Illinois, and Missouri, but the largest portion of his otters went to zoos

I find it to be a stretch that his otters inhabit over half of the United States

NC has taken part in relocation, but from one part of the state to another. I thank those with NC that had a hand in getting us guys in the western half of the state more otters from the east

Gotta live up to the nickname...

There are 100% Louisiana river Otter in Colorado via the Verde River by AZ.

You are missing the majority of the states, I recommend coming to Louisiana to visit the Otter Preserve where all the work was and still is being done. Any river otter in PA is a Louisiana River Otter, Tennesee, Indiana and many more the vast majority didnt go to zoos either. Louisiana always has been the top leader in river otter reintroductions and no state is even remotely close to catching up.

large amounts of money has been going to the "smash and bash genetic bio's" on river otter to show their origins for the states to adjust their seasons

yes the market has improved on the prices on otter as well as flat-tails so have at-er and pity-patter-er

Those are monsters compared to what we have in MN.

How many and what type of sets did you use? How many miles did you have to boat?

My pic was my best day on otter that came from three different coastal streams and all from toilets. Big otter catches require covering a lot of territory.

I'm curious how much acreage it takes there compared to here. We caught roughly 30 in 8 days on 3500 acres.

How does this compare to your area?

Not really able to quantitate at acreage values. They came off of three different watersheds (three streams) with about 8-10 miles of tidewater on each stream being trapped. A total of about 30-35 traps.

I believe in the south there are lots of swamps, sloughs, interconnecting ditches etc. In my country it's a steam surrounded by mountains so there are no other waterbodies otter are traversing.
