Traditional supper on New Years Day. We did pork shoulder steaks, home made Kielbasa, and sauerkraut. Comes out of the oven in about ten minutes.

Any others on the forum enjoy this annual tradition?

We had ours today with Kielbasa and pork loin.
A tradition that goes back generations.

Nice! Us Russian descendants love the tradition meal with family also. Sauerkraut isn’t just a German food.

Collards and blackeyed peas with rice. The pork is broiled country style ribs and if you got pork you must have a sweet potato to go with it.

Or a yam !

Oh man...with lots of buttah on it all. With my southern style cake moist homemade cornbread to go with it all . Or, hushpuppies made in the drippings from the ribs !

T-bones are pretty fine also, have a hard time with potatoes though. I will eat them, but never want them in any meal.

Truth be told we had pork four ways, five if you count bacon grease.

Country style ribs
Jowl bacon in the peas
Smoked neckbones in the greens
Cracklins in the cornbread

We've been eating leftover pork since Xmas. Descended from the Island of Man . Not sure if that makes me a kraut.

Isle of Man would make you most likely Norse though it is nominally british/celtic. The Isle of Man was a viking kingdom and my own scottish Clan MacLeod is descended from the Olaf the Black king of Man.

In the Deep South, we have collards, black eyed peas, hog jowl, and cornbread.
