I read about it earlier today, good for Iowa if it works out.
Should help out anyway.

But that's what I charge to set a trap, than a per beaver charge.

And just word of mouth and fish and game I got plenty of work.
Any bounty is a good bounty, hopefully it will help getting more
trapper's in the game.

Let me sugar coat this

Preface: I'm not against bounties in ANY way, but for some of you I have a question...do you consider animal bounties a subsidy, (or heaven forbid) a welfare program? Just wondering, from some of the things that get posted from time to time.

Act like a blank, get treated like a blank. Insert your own blank!

I just posted in case someone were interested. That's my only dog in the fight.

A neighboring county increased their bounty on beaver last year to $100/tail. All sorts of people thought they where going to make some easy money but had never trapped them before. Most just educated the beaver after spending a bunch of money on traps and equipment.

Bounties are paying for a service to control a problem that cost tax payers and private individuals $$$ bounty trappers aren't setting around collecting a welfare check. There working hard fore a crevice. That said if the bounty is paid with tax dollars it would be a subsidy, and we know it's not going to seem fair to all tax payers.

$25 still isn't worth it for the hoops you have to jump

You're welcome. Anyone can post on TR, it's very easy, no logging in required. I don't know of any trapping news site except there so if we could all support that concept it might be helpful to the future of conservation awareness.

Here are all the bounty stories posted on Trappers Report. There have indeed been a few. I don't know if the one you mentioned got put up or not. This simple search mechanism can be used to look up any-topic you want...

Could be considered a subsidy for whoever's land its helping I guess, but the trapper part I don't. The trapper is working for it.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

If you are allowed to keep the fur and castor, an added $25 is pretty good money. Should be able to make a profit on that.

Who pays for the liability insurance, or is it covered by working for them?

I didn't see a requirement for liability insurance.

I see it as the cheapest fair market way to farm out the work.

if they specify the specific area you must collect them from.

if they hired a usda trapper they would know their cost input but it might not produce as many beaver as they like before the 5K runs out figure that would pay 1 guy for 5 weeks if you had to hire him to trap for you and maybe not even that.

or they still know their cost input budget of 5K you get 200 beaver , it sounds like they are taking the fur , they didn't specify dried or not but they may have a buyer to turn 5k of money into more than 200 beaver

if it fails they don't pay out and have no more beaver than they would have had

5K isn't even a small road repair so if the bounty prevents one road wash out they are $$ ahead.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Well I missed the part about getting paid for the pelt. That is not as good of a deal as I thought. $25 plus castors isn't bad but not as good as a pure bounty.

Just wondering. Some public agencies and companies require it and others don’t.

there are serval counties in Iowa with beaver bounties ranging from $25, $35, $50, and $100. None of them are worth my time if they don't pay for my mileage and time, plus the bs paperwork involved. now if you where out fur trapping in these areas for the fun of it, it would be a nice bonus paycheck.

Always the other side - what keeps someone from catching a beaver in another county - or even state - and turning in for bounty?
