It would silly to let a Chinese balloon to fly across our airspace!!! As far as knowing what it can see or do I doubt anyone on this thread has the slightest idea. It didn't get here by accident nor without a reason which is reason enough to bring it down in my opinion and make it perfectly clear to China it isn't going happen again. That probably would happen if we had a President that had any common sense and a set and wasn't on China's payroll Look at the comments on here!!!! Some are perfectly OK with it meandering it's way across this country because the Chinese said sorry its just a weather balloon that got lost by about 15,000 miles. And some of these guys I use to think had a bit more since than Biden. This nation is getting soft.

I am surprised someone hasn't shot it, especially when we have all heard who's balloon it is. What trouble could a person get in? 60,000 ft high. What ya gonna shoot it with??? There must be someone around in that area who owns a 6.5 Creedmooooh

Current location thought to be 100 miles SE of St. Louis, over southern IL.......roughly following I-64. Heading towards KY, and picking up speed.

It would silly to let a Chinese balloon to fly across our airspace!!! Hundreds of their satellites do it daily. Just a bit higher up. I’m interested in why people are so interested in shooting down a balloon with a million dollar missile.

Obviously whatever that thing is doing can't be done with satellites or they wouldn't have needed to sent it and your the only one I've heard say anything about using a million dollar missile. If it takes us using a million dollar missile to bring it down we just as well surrender to China now.....

The Chinks must be laughing their heads off,lol Everybody going bananas over a weather balloon. Hah! You'll think different when that thing comes and hovers over your cottage there in Maple Syrupville, Canada. Little Communist rascals will do a brain scan on you. Probe you in your sleep.

I’m interested in why people are so interested in shooting down a balloon with a million dollar missile. It's a provocation. Of course they can take pics of whatever they want with a satellite. However, the average Joe doesn't know where those satellites are. This, though, demonstrates to the whole world that an enemy can fly a balloon over the country that anyone can step outside their door and see, and Biden won't do anything about it. It shows that bold moves can be made against the US, and Biden won't do anything about it.

Anyone know the international ceiling on air space?? There must surely be one? Are all the satellites I see when I'm sitting campfire ours? Do we shoot down any that we don't know what they are?

  Mac Very good question!

But I’m sure they want to see what electronics are on it regardless. Why would they destroy it? Do you think we will scare them if we can shoot down a balloon?
