I like how after he has graded them and placed them in piles it seems like he realizes there are to many in the good pile. Then he pulls onepike. From the good pile and puts them in a lower grade pile.

Coons get yellow from eating cheese laugh That shows you how much BOCO knows about coons. Everybody knows they only eat white cheddar.

I doubt FHA has any way to influence the war in Ukraine or the speed at which China opens back up, and the Chinese people begin spending on fur again. There is a lot of excess dressed fur inventory in China and around the world that will have to be consumed before we hope to see significant price increases for wild fur.

When the best time for harvestors to harvest fur seems to not be correlated well with when the fur is at its highest value to the market and the more limited the market the much narrower is the best harvest time for markets.
Here in eastern WI we have a coons season that goes from middish October to Fegruary 15th or about 125 days. If we get an early or hard November our coon start denning before our 9 day gun season and then go in and out of denning as the winter progressess. That is the most limiting weather but in reality one may not have one day of getting the very best of the very best, so trying to bring fur to a buyer with that limited of a market is demeaning and for me that bothers me as much or more than the fact that they are worth little. The best way to keep wild fur harvest down is to be critical of those that continue to harvest and they may not engage when prices rise either.
We also may be entering into a long era of where utilitarian fur will never be back. Russians have not been buying much fur for almost two decades other than one Olympics year and the Chinese are adjusting to not buying or wearing fur either.
I notice that many areas are able to offer small association auctions and can attract quite a few buyers. Here in WI we have not established those contacts and thus we don't hold many if any association auctions. If I am not going to make any money trapping at least meeting with a bunch of other trappers to visit and plan out events would be preferred by myself.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens in China. During the pandemic, the Chinese government didn’t send out money the way our government did. Some areas were locked down for months. If you wanted groceries, toiletries, medicine, or to see a doctor for any other reason, it came out of the individual’s pocket. My friends there said it was a financially punishing time. On top of this, with factories closed or severely cut back, because of locked down factory workers, a lot fewer people had a paycheck to rely on.

With 4 times the US population, there has to be money available for luxuries. But their economy is different. Saving for your kid’s future education is more important than luxury items. Where are you going to show it off if everybody is quarantined?

Its the same here in MO bblwi. The best time to catch quantify of fur is November hands down. The quality is in December but the numbers of best quality don't even come close to the numbers you get in November. This year we had ice before Thanksgiving and thats pretty rare in the past 30 years. I dont see how it pays to wait cause the quality doesn't outweigh the quantity. Just my opinion tho.

I start trapping when fur primes up,but there is a lot of variables in different places, especially where more than one trapper is after the same animals.
If you leave them some other trapper may take them.
That is not an issue for me on an RTL.
Dont know about coon-none here, was just postulating.Maybe they would be hibernating by the time they prime?

Groeny does good by putting these videos out. It's better for someone to tell people why their fur isn't right than to just stay mum about it.

Dutch did the same for me 50 years ago and I learned from the constructive criticism.

I agree. I like any buyer to tell me what they think and why.
