My son has a 2020 Polaris Ranger 500. Hasn't beaten it enough yet to know how it's going to last. Is just due for break in check. I think the Ranger and trailer was priced at $12.000.00. He won it on a $20.00 raffle ticket so cost him that plus tax and registration. So far been plenty good unit not so sure about the dealership. Haven't had to do any work on it yet so no idea about parts issue might have.

You would be doing yourself a favor in buying a Honda. I have had my 1996 Honda Foreman for 25 years! Wonderful machine! The only thing i have done to it is change oil, filter, tires and hand grips. I would highly recommend Honda!

I have a polaris Ranger, 3 polaris 4-wheelers, one Can Am 4 wheeler, and one kawasaki 4-wheeler. Seems crazy to type that all out, but they all get good use.

I had a horrible experience with an Arctic Cat, which by the way is the only ATV I have ever bought brand new. I would say Can Am and Honda are the most reliable. My Polarises are in the shop a lot. Not sure why I keep buying them except they are made near here and they are so much more available than the other brands put together, which makes them more affordable.

I had a Polaris Sportsman. It was always needing something. I have my Honda and it is always going and never breaking. But still our Horses get the best service!!

God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

I currently have a can am commander 1000 and a polaris ranger crew 900. The can am is a piece of junk. 1000 miles and it is literally held together with ratchet straps. Noisy. Hot in cab. The ranger has 4000 miles. Have had most of the bearings and u-joints replaced once. Other than that - has been great. A friend has a honda. He has also had some joint and bearing replaced. I would not own a honda if the only option was hard doors. Our rigs run about six months out of the year in water and mud. That said, my cattle rancher next door neighbor runs a yamaha. He has two of them - one with 16,000 miles and one with 10,000. He has very little trouble with them. I like my ranger but will look hard at the yamaha if they have an option for the soft sided doors.

Maybe I've got lucky but my 2013 Polaris 900 has held pretty good and I've used it very vert hard. And burning pastures, chasing wild cows and even wilder coyotes I've abused it pretty bad. Actually really bad. But maybe I got lucky. But as I stated previously my next one will probably be a honda.

The problem with all these machines is not one of them has been perfect. I have had can ams, honda’s and polaris. The polaris models I have had have been the best of the three. The can am would be best served as a boat anchor, and the honda somewhere in the middle. Yet others say a can am is great - or a polaris is junk. I have 4000 miles on a 3.5 yr old polaris and it has never left me stranded. Cant say that for my can am or honda. I expect bearings and bushing to have to be replaced. When your rig spends half it’s life in mud and water - you have to expect that. I think this information is best obtained from owners local to your area and use type.

Just brought my 2004 Polaris can-am bombadier in for a thermostat cover replacement. The shop I brought it to quit selling Polaris products due to yearly recalls on their products. Since Polaris went to mexico for production their quality is horrible. Although mine is old I'll keep it and enjoy it.

I’m in the market for a new ATVs as well. I can’t decide between a Honda Foreman or Rancher. I’ve had a 1996 Honda 300 4x4 bought new in 96 still ticking. I’ve have an 08 Polaris Ranger 700xp that has served me well, but it has not been trouble free. I will replace it with a Honda Pioneer here in a few years.

That is a personal choice the Rancher is a little smaller than a Foreman ( or at least they used to be) but both great machines , again they must be maintained like any other piece of equipment that you depend on regularly

I washed my Honda Pioneer 1000, as I always do when I'm ending trapping at one ranch, and then heading to another. And as routine, I check the oil. Another 1340 miles on this ranch during our stay and no oil drop. So none to add. It's kinda weird. I ALWAYS am adding oil to the Polaris and Kawasaki mules I've owned (never keep a unit more than 3 years) and this 2 year old Honda uses 0 oil. It's just kinda weird.... but I LIKE IT! So my poor jug of extra oil which I tote along ranch to ranch remains uncapped.
