Anyone ever try to rehydrate and re stretch fur? Got a couple good looking cats that I'm not 100 percent happy with and I'd like to stretch them out again, I think I could get a little more length out of them and get them looking more appealing to the buyers.

As long as they are well scraped, and were promptly skinned and dried no problem re hydrating them and re-stretching them.

I have soaked dried raw fur in salt water to start a tanning sequence.
Maybe you can use regular water to just re-stretch.
I'm sure someone will chime in & let you know

TILL THAT DAY.....

A tip if you are doing that-lay out a good sized fluffy towell on a table, lay the re hydrated cat on the towell fur out and roll it up in the towell.
Then with as much force as you can muster wring it out hard while rolled up in the towell, this will take out almost all the moisture in the fur leaving it just damp, and it will dry much better than putting it on the stretcher with wet fur.

You will have to turn it after drying, you cannot do that and try to dry it fur out.

Any time you rehydrate a hide you are taking a chance of it slipping.

Probably not worth the risk. An experienced buyer can see what it is.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)
