How do I open an account? All I have here is the green slip of paper that I got from the shipping agent at the pick up location. On FHA website, I only see were you can Log-In. No option to create an account.

Call Cheryl at FHA @ (705) 495-4688
or e-mail her @ cherylb@furharvesters.com

Tell her you wish to establish a trapper's account.

Have that green fur receipt handy.

[b]cathryn said.." i told ya 2 months ago the castor market was gonna do that...

And everyone said oh no..oh no...it wont...and look whats happened now.lol

It's gonna hit 20 -25 a pound before it's over.

It's a great Time to buy castor cause once the surplus of castor dries up tha buyers have now it'll go back to prob 50 or so a.pound[b]

I'm not so sure of that, bet there is a lot more beaver produced next year. And that means a lot more castor produced, and I bet the guys will NOT just toss the little ones away![/quote]

Don't know about the grade but our buyer buys jerrys Mississippi wyoming and wv beaver at the same per piund price across tha board.

A 60 inch wv mn beaver weighs the same as a 60 inch Mississippi beaver because the leather is thicker on the Mississippi and the fur is thicker on the mn beaver

Our buyer said he'd love to have 100 mn trappers their watching Jim weigh them because the northern trappers don't believe it.

His ms brought the same money as his other per pound.

If he's paying 12.0o around a 2 lb beaver is 24.0p no matter where it's caught..MS..qy..mn.. wis..it doesn't matter.
We SD em we know for 10000% sure.
He didn't even look at any of Them and he knew where they were caught

Yes the wild mink market is not there. I had a female, I caught 10 days before Christmas and was graded select. She sold for $1.00

Some castor sold at the OSTA auction for $50.00 a pound on 3-11-23. I'm not sure what the overall sale average was, but at least 3 pounds went for 50 each.

That's a crime that they let them go that cheap. They should hold them, at least for a few sales, and hope that things improve somewhat. Can always give them away for a buck 2 or 3 years from now. For comparison, I sold 21 female mink at the OSTA sale on 3-11-23 for $6.00 each. If Fur Harvesters continues to give them away for a buck, they will continue to be lowballed on the offers from the buyers. Why bid more when you don't need to?

Or, are those mink being bought up by the owners and never leaving the building. Asking for a friend!!

No use holding worthless fur-just costs money-sell it into the market for whatever is offered or burn it.

If FHA can't find somebody to pay a trapper more than a dollar for a fresh caught female mink, then FHA is kind of worthless. Just Sayin!

Sounds like according to someone who was there the offering of mink was very poor quality. The southern beaver must be fine to use as hatters or Groeny wouldn’t be running routes all over the south?

They call our southern beavers hatters for a reason.

BOCO,

You'd soon change your tune if they burned your
sable, lynx, or beaver or let them go for a loonie !!!

It all depends on whose Ox is being gored !!!
