I knew a big speculator and when both auction houses had an item they could not move, they would call him to clean the floor. He bought semi loads of fur and when the price went back up he sold it. He bought a closed beer brewery for the cold storage. He died a couple years ago. I am not sure if anyone has stepped up to take his place. He shipped semi loads of baled coon up to NAFA for the sale where people averaged $40-60. When he died I know it would have an effect on fur selling.

He had worked as a fur broker in NY back when that was a thing. He didn't see it as a risk. He know if you buy fur cheap you can make money on it. In a dead market he showed up to buy.

My point Is this..say you southern guys have a 60 inch beaver that weighs 2 pounds and it grades a section 3 at FH..that beaver brought 9.00 at FH this sale and the same beaver...at 12.00 a pound(it's higher than that right now by the pound) is a 24.00 beaver.
I know it for 10000 percent fact cause Jerry catches alot of southern beaver..his buyer..who's a big player..knows where they're from and it doesn't matter..weight is weight.
Yall southern guys..if you put up your fur...you'd be amazed.
Heck..green beaver?
Yall should be getting at LEAST 10..00 or 12.00 straight on them..no BS.
Cause that buyers gonna put em up and sell em by the pound.
Some of the southern fur buyers are gonna have a hissy that I posted this..But a facts a fact.
Yall southern guys...YOUR FUR HAS VALUE!!!!!.. I
I wish yall figure it out..for real..
I hate to see ANYONE leave money on the table
And i know the work that goes into gettin em..firsthand
IF IDIOTS GREW ON TREES THIS PLACE WOULD BE AN ORCHARD !

He sounds like quite the risk-taker! Big risk taker in SE PA who would buy out of favor fur and hold/turn around for a profit. Can't remember his name but he bought a lot of fur.

And i know the work that goes into gettin em..firsthand Groeny just paid some of our southern guys double what you posted, for green furs. Check out the "just sold to Grony" thread.
There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

Cathryn the FHA 9$ beaver were kits or small beaver, if you are referring to the last ones in the sale.
Remember that 30K is only 10% of what they would handle before.
With new buyers in the crowd they fell asleep at the switch. If that is all they came for ;;;; it was sure an expensive trip from Portugal to make some fedoras but Milliners are a finikle crowd

By your own argument you lost 12 bucks..

I thought tha as low.

The overall average included mediums small and xtra smalls. And those small section III. Go to earlier in the thread during the beaver sale.
