Hathcock was the best of the best. All soldiers are heroes in my way of thinking. Nice photos.
The first bottles of Coca Cola contained 3.5 grams of cocaine. That's how our grandparents were able to walk to school uphill both ways in the snow.

We are a free country because these heroes were willing to put their lives on the line to make sure we stayed that way. The current administration wants to take away this freedom.

that truck looks like it has a personnel carrier with the tracks taken off on it
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Speaking of Hathcock, recently ran across a reference to him that some might find interesting. It is there if you keep reading. https://www.ballisticstudies.com/Knowledgebase/Hold+that+Forend.htmlAgain, some might find this helpful, others will reject it outright. Intended to be applied to moderate to heavy recoil hunting rifles in hunting situations. FWIW.

Intended to be applied to moderate to heavy recoil hunting rifles in hunting situations. FWIW. it is all about keeping it the same guns absolutely change point of impact with recoil theoretically a 150 gr 30-06 should be a flatter shooting round than a 180gr and the arc of the bullet is to a point , but if you were sighted in for 150s and you switch to 180 and don't sight in you may find yourself shooting 3 inches higher than you were with 150s , the difference is how much the rifle moved in recoil before the bullet exited the muzzle you will see it in 44mag 180s may shoot to the factory sight while you need a taller front sight for 240gr
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Don't want to even attempt to summarize his book in one or two sentences, but short version is he is not fond of guys shooting cross armed off bipods.......wants them to use a sandbag or firm front and rear stock rest, plus sling and firm grip on forearm to minimize the "bounce" from recoil.......and third factor is a straight, inline stock. Monte Carlo stocks offset from straight recoil of rifle contributing to felt recoil and causing muzzle bounce. And again, that applies to guys using larger caliber sporter hunting rifles. Not heavy barreled, lite recoiling small caliber target rifles.....one's that don't bounce much anyway. His motivation is to teach guys how to accurately shoot sporter rifles in actual field conditions.
Beyond that, his point was......if you want to shoot like Hathcock did........then shoot like Hathcock did. Use same methods he used.

He mentioned putting a rag or hanky down in front of the muzzle so the rifle blast didn't kick up dirt revealing his position. He knew all the tricks of being a great sniper.
