Some 90 wildfires are active in Alberta, with 23 out of control, according to the provincial government. At one point the fires pushed more than 30,000 people out of their homes while oil and gas producers shut in at least 319,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, or 3.7% of national production.

Smoke so thick here looks like fog. Can see about a city block.

We have smoke here as well. Hoping they can get it somewhat under control soon.

I'm in north west alberta and I've never seen it so dry. Lots of people displaced from their homes and towns evacuated. About 500 yards visibility at times here at home. Was so dark the other day my yard lights come on in the afternoon. Got a long weekend coming up this weekend so hopefully people use care and caution while out in the bush. I live 1/2 mile from the bush and got rigged up with two 300 gal totes , pump, sprinklers and couple hundred feet of fire hose on my car hauler trailer that I can be mobile if a fire springs up locallySupposed to have rain in the forecast for next week so we'll hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

The smoke is thick here today. Less than a mile visibility, about a half mile. The wind is out of the north today.

Hope you get rain soon.Forest fires can be deadly when you live in a town surrounded by forests.
It was starting to get dry here last week but now we have a couple inches of wet snow on the ground for last couple days, with freezing temps at night for the next week or so.
Hopefully that will carry us over till green up in June.

Crazy smokey here last 2 days. The sad part is a lot of those fires were set on purpose by people.

I hope everyone stays safe. I’ve heard different reports the last couple days. Some are thinking there are way too many fires burning for them to be natural. Eco-terrorism maybe?

Or set by fire personnel. There is huge money in suppression contracts to fight wildland wildfires....

Intentionally set? How insane are people? Do that and you should get 30 years, no ifs ands or buts.

We even got some of the smoke into N.Y. the past week. It's riding the jet stream.

Praying for rain for you guys. Pretty sure we have someone around here setting grass fires when it gets dry and windy.
