MS has Castle Doctrine. Most times those shooting someone that can even remotely be considered self defense never even get charged.

Yep is a stand your ground state.

yes castile doctrine there are always a few caveats the reasonable belief of death or great bodily harm is always required. you need to be in a place you are supposed to be meaning you wave your right if you are in the commission of a crime. you can't be the instigator , meaning you can't go picking a fight to get some one to come at you so you draw and shoot them here is a good explanation of the Wisconsin law https://www.grievelaw.com/WisconsinGun/Laws/CastleDoctrineExplainedThe court or jury may no longer consider whether the actor (a homeowner in his home, business owner or operator in their business or motorist in their motor vehicle) had the opportunity to flee. You may now "stand your ground" in these locations. If someone breaks in the front door of your dwelling, or is in the process of breaking in the front door, you do not need to flee out the back door; instead you may choose to stand your ground and the new law shall presume you reasonably believed lethal force was necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm.
With Castle Doctrine, when someone uses force intended or likely to cause death or great bodily harm (such as shooting another person) in the course of defending themselves they have civil immunity from prosecution. This is known as "stand your ground" protection. It presumes the person is otherwise not breaking the law themselves and believes they were in reasonable fear of imminent death or great bodily harm when someone unlawfully and forcibly entered their dwelling, motor vehicle or place of business.
Translation: you no longer have to wait until that 3 A.M. bedroom intruder puts a knife at your throat before employing deadly force to stop the threat.
It is important to understand what Castle Doctrine does not do. It does not allow a person to use lethal force against an invited dinner guest who remarks that your wife's meatloaf is overdone, or that your beer is too warm. Hopefully, that went without saying, and if it came as a surprise then I strongly urge you to contact one of our Milwaukee firearm attorneys sooner rather than later.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Not this state, if you shoot someone in self defense here, you can be sure you will be charged with manslaughter at a minimum. If your defense lawyer sucks, you will be charged with murder. Probly have a better chance with two bullet holes and an ambulance than a gun and jury here.

Ohio was #36,,things are really getting deadly here in Columbus area. I dont want to take a life ,but its gotten to where I carry some. Ive had a carry permit for 33 yrs but never carried. Only on trapline! I have a strange feeling that DeWine passed the Constitutional law for a set up. No permit to conceal carry in Ohio. Seen at least three road rage shootings in the last couple of weeks. Not going into any details .

I think here in Maryland we have to retreat to the furthest point from the threat first. Unless you're a body guard for the government !

here in ks you can even defend property to the point thats reasonable. i think it was written that way so a jury would decide in lethal force over property.
no requirement to back down to protect anyone. especially not in your home

Better have insurance. It'll still cost a lot to prove yourself innocent. Or a tractor with a front loader / backhoe to make holes in the ground. I hate paperwork

Here in MN, it's best to avoid shooting someone regardless of the circumstances because liberal MN is notorious for letting the guilty go unpunished and the innocent get punished.

I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried to the grave by 6.
Ayoob Massad (sp?) has a super video on YouTube (Wilson Combat) regarding post self defense shooting interviews with the police. His wisdom could keep you out of court if you ever have to put some never do weller.

I have insurance, there are tons of lowlife lawyers who will sue the shoes off you. You can get away with shooting someone if you do it in Sante Fe on a movie set! I have been told at a concealed carry class to retreat even in your own home, so I bought insurance! If I am home, the scumbag will be looking down the barrel of a gun. No retreat.

Leftlane. Thats good stuff ! I share a range with = County Task Force guys. But would NEVER give a statement without my lawyer present no matter what I do understand that. A buddy of mine joined one of those pre-paid defense clubs for a potential defensive shooter. One of their lawyers suggested the shooter ask for an ambulance (any questions from that point would basically be inadmissible.)
I thought the idea had merit. You could basically advise Leo's of the things went over in the video while putting off further questions until your lawyer met you at the ER.
