I just found out on payments on one card co. U got pay it 5-7 business days ahead due date or get sock late fee.none my other cards do that. U can pay on due date even. Way avoid this is make Express payment with additional $7.99. what a ripoff . I check today on card due next sat . So pay it today . I find that be ridiculous . I didn't know that for a whole yr. I think I was pay as close as 3 days bfore due date . These predatory loan places an low cc co. Are terrible. They prey an take advantage of ppl with not lots money . I had took out small loan also months ago because pickup an expensive plumber bill. There nothing u can do . If don't have perfect credit from some issues yrs back . This what happens . Is this what binden policy is ? All for more richer ppl an bankrupt country with inflation? The inflation is worse problem I have in last 1-2 yrs.. everything nowadays I can think of in life. Is much more crappier then yrs ago. Good ole days are gone forever. I can not think one positive thing in life that I run across with. Everything I encounter seems totally negative. Inflation as ruin the country

Get rid of all credit cards.
Credit cards are like a parasite sucking your bank account.
Why do you think those credit card companys are filthy rich?
Parasite,same as a casino.

Coonman. There are things you can do , as you gain good credit along the way. I have done this for years. And I have top rated credit scores that any bank on earth loves to see.

Don't use the mail to pay. Call their customer help number. They are happy to process your payment via the phone. That way you are never late.

Or you can pay it as soon as it arrives in the mail. Sometimes mail does get there late.

If a payment does arrive to them late (I've had this happen a couple of times due to stalling of mail, not me), call them. Tell them when you mailed it. Request that they not fine you, and possibly put a mark against your credit score. The good ones will do that for you. If they see your track record of flawlessly paying bills, they will give you slack. Mine did.

Remember this motto....." It doesn't hurt to ask." That goes for anything. Anyone. Anytime.

I never pay interest. If your balance is more than you can pay off all at once, you have options.
1- call and request they lower your APR to rock bottom . They will.
2- if you have more than one card, even just two, they offer balance transfers for 0% APR for a number of months, even several years. 0 APR. As long as you make on time payments. Take advantage of that. It works great. Calling them and requesting just what you want is much better than trying to do that online. I like to speak with a real person. .....

" It doesn't hurt to ask. "

And all gaining you better and better credit scores. That's important if you ever want a loan of some kind. If you just appear out of the bush, on walkabout , no credit , nothing, like a wild aborigine , loan institutions will likely eye you with worry.

CC doesn't have to suck interest. Not if you manage them with care.

Coonman220, I had the very same thing happen with my phone provider. Got my bill, mailed the bill and check the same week and when my next monthly bill arrived, the company stated that my account was past due and they had added a late fee. I called and when I finally got a human....speaking indistinct ANGLICH... I went through my tirade. 5 checks went out the week I paid the bill, 4 were cashed withing 7 days of sending that mail, theirs was still unaccounted for. I told them, my postmark is the date of record for that payment, they can find it somewhere in their mail system. I will not be paying any late bill fee. 5 days later the check was posted to my bank account. I called a second time and they took the late fee off the account and gave me another 20 dollar credit "for my troubles". Oh, I also got about 5 requests to convert my account to autopay. NOPE, I will control my account with checks.

I keep one credit card, one debit card.
Use credit card for security on motel, mail orders only.

Pay cash at motel when checking out. And pay mail orders as soon as they come
and done deal.

Debit card for gas, groceries, and hardware store.

No credit card for my trapping business, check or cash.
And if that doesn't work I find another place to do business.

Let me sugar coat this

Tell that to the Bank when you want a Mortgage or buy a vehicle!!! Not very smart to let a Credit Card Company to destroy your credit but some WANT you to so you pay higher interests!!! Credit Score IS NEEDED!!!

No worries, Randall. I well know what can be done with good credit, and also with cash. And they are both different in their need.

Those who do active things , travel, even depending on what they want to buy, all need some form of credit to prove their dependability.

The key is knowing how to make those credit cards actually work in your behalf. You can have very little to pay off and still have that work for you.

I guess I thought others realize all this too. As you said, right down to buying a vechile ... grin

No, its not Randall, the local bank or your credit union can underwright without a credit score. Not all will, but many will still do it. Takes a little more time, and they look at other things closer, but it is done all the time. Credit card companies have done a fine job of brainwashing folks into thinking you need credit in order to function in life.
