And if you have some basic tools, don’t pay a shop $450 to do it. YouTube how to do it yourself and buy the parts for under 100 bucks. Took me a couple hours to do it, and that’s having never done one before in my life. There are YouTube videos that’ll walk you through it step by step. Same goes for most repairs on vehicles.

How do they get 450 bucks to put a wheel bearing in?

I put them in regular at work....anywhere from 90 up to 180 for the bearing, depending on make and model and 1.5 labor.

Last one I did, (last week) on a Chevy trailblazer cost the gal just under 200 bucks total.


I work way to cheap compared to the prices I see posted here.

Ps, most all the replacements come with the speed sensor Coonman.

If a hub goes bad , replace them both while you have the tools at hand. They are the same age and done the same milage, so the other one will probably go as well in short order.

Chevy Colorado's are a pain to work on. Yes, I have replaced spark plugs on a 2008 Chevy Colorado. I also agree with opening a can of worms.

a front hub wheel bearing assembly on Colorado. I ask elsewhere an was quoted more then we're I went . Wheel speed sensor they say didn't come with it . Maybe it more job on Colorado. The rotors are original as much harder replace on Colorado . Haven't noticed anything with other wheel on passenger side after a year. If does go out.. Maybe should ask price elsewhere but I think other shops were higher considerably

Not sure what wheel bearing prices use are talk about . I just look up online price at advance auto. Lowest price hub wheel bearing assembly exact fit was $192, an up to either $220-240. Wheel speed sensor $50-$70, plus tax not include $98 hr labor. I more concerned about cast iron cat converter exhaust manifold assembly go bad, it on its 3rd one an replace 2.5 yr ago. There on sale now at part store for just under $800. Plus tax an labor probly $150 labor I guess , they like go bad on that motor. The 2nd one didn't last 7 months . Coonman have you ever thought about spending your money on some tools and learing how to do simple replacement of parts yourself? I was raised by a single mom that cuts hair and had no background or dad around to teach me. But with labor rates over $ 100per hr I learned not mechanic work is not hard if you have the tools and some time. I do have some things done at a shop now becuse I'm no longer young and poor and have more money than time to work on things. But if your working a low paying job and going to drive a wore out vehicle that needs a lot of repairs either you learn to work on them yourself to save money or you figure out its cheaper to replace the wore out truck with something new. Once you figure parts and labor, towing, missed work due to break downs. And the aggravation it can be cheaper to pay for a newer vehicle.

Another goog option is to have an extra old truck so you have a spair when one is broke down

U tube helpful but there tricks to stuff . Much better is watch someone do a repair job an then do it . I could then. Tools parts are bad enough. The shop I go to. $98 hr. Pretty decent compare some. Others higher an u run into crooked shops . Also ones beginners or don't do good job. Some beginners ok

One big problem of only having one vehicle an d working I n it is when you need to run to the parts store after you have your truck apart. Then you have to figure out how to get to the parts store. Less of a problem when you live in town but a major issue if you live 45 minutes from town and have no close family or friends near by.
